The Sound of Music Live! (DVD, 2013)

I always prefer stage versions over the 1965 movie

This filmed/stage production avoids the Robert Wise movie's unforgiveable omissions of the two Elsa Schraeder songs, "No Way to Stop It," and "How Can Love Survive." Not only are they two of the best musical numbers in the entire production, but they also move the plot along by explaining the fundamental incompatibility of Georg von Trapp and Elsa Schraeder. Laura Benanti is fabulous as Elsa, and of course Audra McDonald hits all the high notes (literally and figuratively) in the central number, "Climb Ev'ry Mountain."

Carrie Underwood is no Julie Andrews but this is a great version of The Sound of Music

Really good movie!! I watched this when the performance took place live on the tv. I was very impressed!! Now mind you Carrie Underwood is no Julie Andrews by any means but I think that she did an excellent job portraying Maria in this live on stage performance. Now alot of people when this was performed live on tv didn’t think it was as good the original movie because they felt that Carrie Underwood couldn’t hold a candle to Julie Andrews in this performance. If you are a fan of the original version of The Sound of Music then I highly recommend watching this version and you be the judge of this version of it. I personally love it and I’m glad that I came acrossed this version of it on dvd for a really cheap price. I give this performance of Carrie Underwood 5 stars!!Vollständige Rezension lesen

a new classic for the ages..anyone. any age will love this on stage. Broadway type version..so many great actors actresses. wonderful singers.. Carrie is fabulous!..

Love it!

Carrie Underwood was surprisingly good in this. She held her own against two terrific Broadway actors: Audra McDonald and Stephen Moyer. Added to the fact that it was live made it more daunting.

Wasn’t made vlear

We were not made aware it was going to be only suitable for American region DVD players.
As it was exported to UK, we assumed it would have been converted.
