Weatherproof box

Fitted to a stippled rendered wall. Angle ground the surface render off so it fits sub flush and screwed to wall. Screw holes very thin and broke through tightening. Used penny washers on top surface to get more robust fixing pressure. Used silicone sealant to bed box on wall around back of outer edge then tooled to render and box. Nice neat finish. Lid locking clips feel a bit flimsy and bit concerned about long term use, you need to be sure lid is properly engaged to box before clipping down.
Decided to bring cable in through a drilled hole on back of box instead of using the cable trap grommet so now permanently hidden from view and weather. Mains supplied from mains spur through double pole switch and then internal RCD from the room on the other side of the wall. Fitted 4 way socket using keyholes to top fixing row and pumped silicone in keyholes to prevent socket lifting after fitting. While not ideal, Grey colour blends better into the magnolia painted wall and looks much less obtrusive than the black ones. Vollständige Rezension lesen

CLASP FAILURE

I installed this product a while ago. It does the job but is not of sufficient quality. It seals against wind and rain and so protects the electrical connection.

However, it has no way of mounting vertically without putting holes in the box - which defeats the object. I had to compromise integrity by drilling out some holes and then using lots of sealant around the nut and bolt.

But the main issue are the poorly made clasps used to fasten down the lid. They look very dodgy - and they ARE dodgy. I have to open the box only every few months but within a couple of months they had both broken - each split on the inner edge. Still usable but clearly not going to last much longer. A year later, later after perhaps being opened and closed three or four times, one broke off completely making the box utterly useless - open to the elements. Simple, reliable, waterproof

I mounted this on a wall in the back garden. I drilled a hole through the house wall to get the electricity to it. It works well for water feature and Christmas lights, I fed it from an existing socket through an indoor fused isolation switch, drilling the hole through the wall was the hardest part, some basic electrical skills required to make sure it is installed safely. not fit for purpose...

poorly built. I purchased this box last year and was immediately concerned that the opening and closing clasps looked weak and brittle. However decided to keep. Sure enough one of the clasps has snapped despite infrequent use, rendering the box non-weatherproof, potentially dangerous, and confsigned to the waste bin..The 4 gang socket and cable were fine but sorry to say that the case build/design is definitely not fit for purpose.Time to re-think clasp design.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Just the job.

I'm using it to enclose an energiser for an electric fence, replacing a previous identical box that had done the job for six years until the sun did for the clasps. I expect this one to last another six years at least.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Safe power outside

I used one of these to allow operation of an electric chain saw some way from the power source, then again to run three sets of christmas lights from a single cable out side the house. Does the job but not good value

For the money I was very disappointed with this purchase, all you get is a damp-proof 'box' with a 4 gang socket, so you need to supply the power to socket via two electric plugs and some cable. I would not recommend it.Vollständige Rezension lesen

High quality.

Bought one to use with my Christmas displays. I have had another one outside for several years and they are great. You can put a padlock on for extra security and they are easily fixed to the wall. Just what I've always wanted!

Up to now I've always had to use a plastic food box with holes cut in the side to join all my Christmas lights together, and then seal the lid and wires etc.
This box does it all and comes complete with a gang plug strip.
