If you have X10 devices, a better choice than the CM11
Your options, if you have X10 devices, are this (the CM15) or the CM11. The CM11 interface is serial (rather than USB) and has a number of nasty and varied firmware bugs depending on the interface's revision and some of them, especially if there is noise on the power line, cause lockups that cannot be cleared without a power-cycle. That can be very annoying!
The CM15 doesn't have those problems, and if you get one of the more-recent ones (Rev 2) is likely to be materially more-stable. Some early CM15s will claim to be sending when they really aren't (although they will reliably receive even so), but whether this is a firmware problem or a hardware fault is unknown. Rev 2 units tend to not exhibit this behavior and thus are preferred. In addition the CM15 will receive wireless (e.g. "PIR") data and translate it to a power-line command, so for an install where you can put the interface close enough to be "in range" of X10 wireless motion sensors this interface will also provide you a working gateway for those PLUS a computer interface in one box. Those little X10 "Hawkeye" motion sensors, incidentally, are very cheap these days, very small in size, run for a long time on two AAA batteries and for occupancy detection (e.g. "lights on when someone is in the room") they work just fine.
X10 is an old technology, is slow (about one second to receive or send a command), it is inherently unreliable as there is no checksum on the power line itself, there is no security to speak of and there is no current manufacturer support as the company appears to be out of business. If you've got a house full of switches and such, however, you still need something to talk to them. Of the various options available the CM15 appears to be the best and most-stable option available in the market at the present time.
So, with the caveat that X10 is a deprecated technology this would be my first choice as a computer interface to talk to an installed X10 system.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Identical to the original
As my home lighting automation stopped working, the CM15A interface became a suspect & got replaced with the CM15A from eBay.
The open box new product looked exactly like the original one & was expected to operate accordingly.
Once the batteries were installed & the unit plugged-in, I heard the peculiar sound of the system recognizing the interface & observed its presence in the Series Controllers' list - both signs of a functional product.

Great Product
The X10 CM15A works well with Windows 10 and all the different types of X10 plug-in modules. No problem programming the ActiveHome software. IT replaced my old CM11A, which would not work with Windows 10. Very happy.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Great X10 Items
I have worked with X10 products since the 80's ... Radio Shack sold them back then .. so I am very familiar with this product. This interface module is just in case the one I currently have ,and been using for years ,has a problem.

Replacement for one I'd had for 15 years...
Bought this as a replacement for one I already had. I figured after almost 15 years, it might be time. I had forgotten that I had fried my laptop hard drive after changing the battery in it. After getting the laptop repaired, I checked and it seemed normal. It was when I changed to holiday schedule that I noticed I had a problem. if still using X10 devices....
If still using X10, this is an excellent interface device. It includes both wireless and power line interfaces so you only need one device to handle both. It works with many if the existing X10 programs (like Xtension) and is quite stable. It also has the ability to download events into the device to work on its own without a computer connected. Apparently it does not work.
I have an older unit but I wanted this one to back-up the other one.
I am using this system with an old computer which is no longer supported - Microsoft XP, so perhaps it is okay - I am not sure.

Old, works, but less than good.
It's an old technology controller, but I needed it to control old technology that I've owned since the last century. Just wish it was complete. Convenient
It is old technology, but I like it.
It makes things convenient if the timers work.
It is a good gadget to have, but it is a little flaky. Timers do not always trigger.
