Tom Browns School Days (DVD, 2005, 2-Disc Set)

i'm not sure if this is the version i saw as a youngster

this is a very good production of schoolboy life of 1830's England. this inspired me to buy the actual book. I remember this title and was sure this was the production I saw on Masterpiece Theater when I was kid watching this with my father, but now I've seen it, i'm not sure. still I enjoyed this as a window into the past. the show is suspenseful to the point that our hero doesn't always come forward with what he knows to the people it might concern, as he is a bit of a hoodlum himself. I don't think they could make a movie like this today without offending the moral majority because the schoolboys engage in a LOT of drinking and it was LEGAL back then. if you want to see how life was in a time when drinking began at the age of 12, this is for you.
