Unlikely people will read this
This is a famous play from China. No native English Speaker should know of it or desire to read it. IN China, it's considered the most over wrought seminal play that every high schooler must read. For them, it's a trope with nothing original too it, the first Soap Opera, riddled with cliches.
But I liked it.
I thought it was fun, somewhat refreshing way to write. The page long character descriptions are amateur, but so poetic and honest. The characters are embellished and laughable at times, how could one act this? But again, this is a stage and we are to be emphatic, so again, I loved it. The coincidence that Shiping, thought dead, could wind up in the Zhou Mansion, faced by her ex-lover who she had a bastard child from will never be believable, but it makes you smile how silly and obvious the flaw is.
If you know nothing of it, but enjoy Modern plays, then pick it up and enjoy.Vollständige Rezension lesen...
