Go Army Rangers!

How can you not like a series that is part army movie, part spy movie, part romantic comedy, part soap opera, grand soap opera, at that??? The dialogue isn't the greatest (what's with so many characters having to repeat a line instead of actually having more to say??) but the characters are an interesting mix and fun to watch. They are definitely far from perfect but they are human and real. I think it's great to show something of what the military families experience and that things don't always get neatly solved by the end of the episode. Especially since my son joined the Marine Corps two years ago, I realized that most people are completely clueless about what life is like today for our military and their families. Things have changed greatly since WWII and Korea and even since Viet Nam; and try to remember that M*A*S*H was a broad comedy (another great show but nothing like The Unit) - not a drama like this series. I really like how it goes back and forth between the soldiers on their missions and the families coping back home. I'd be nice to have more special features on the DVD set and to have a "play all" option but maybe they will on the next season's DVD set.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Greatest show nobody watched

The Unit was a great, well written, relatively politically neutral show that portrayed both the professional and personal/private lives of some of America's top elite special forces. Overall, the show does a great job of showing the dedication, level of commitment and patriotism that the members of the Unit have, and in turn most of the military and special forces, and most of all their willingness to do it for love of country, not for recognition, because aside from the members of the military that work directly with them, and their families, nobody knows that they even lift a finger. Best of all, the show does this without the perception of being a hardcore right-wing political propaganda show. These people have a job to do, they might not always agree with it, but it's usually the right thing to do, and they get it done. Mixed bag

I have a problem with this show. On the one hand, its depiction of the military operations of the Delta-type unit is incredible. Super accurate, it captures the mode of operation, the ethos and culture, and the very spirit of this small, select force. The action is tense, well-paced, and totally convincing. I think that part of the show is the best I've ever seen on TV. But then you have the other half of the show: the gals on the homefront. I understand that you have to have something to interest the other half of the family, but the soap opera part of the show just doesn't ring true. The CO of the unit having an affair with the wife of one of his troops? Unbelievable schlock. And the unfortunate cutting back and forth between the two story lines really detracts from the momentum and energy of the best part of the show: the action sequences. It's too bad the producers couldn't have just stuck to the Delta operations. As it is, I tape the shows and edit out the soap opera -- what remains is truly great TV.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Realistic Action

The Unit is simply a great show. Dennis Haysbert is Snake Doctor. It's rare to see an actor and a character completely fuse. I am interested in all the characters, and the number of unresolved issues. It really is refreshing to watch the storylines regenerate, sometimes after six or seven episodes. Although the production quality in season one seems lower than in season two, it remains an interesting show on many levels. This is a show that can satisfy many viewer needs. Action, Adventure, Drama, Romance. There is a little of all those elements entwined in each episode along with a strong dose of reality, not necessarily within the plots, but instead with the struggles each character faces. The Unit Season 1

My whole family loves this show. We watch it every week. I decided to start getting the season because we do enjoy it so much and can go back and start watching again from the beginning. The actor are realy life people with real life problems. They are a special forces type group with families on base no one except their wives know what their real jobs are. It is a really good show. Each week there is a mission they deal with along with issues going on at home. These are the same issues that we all deal with on a daily basis so it makes the show REAL. It full of action. Action Adventure Drama Shakespeare Style

I found "The Unit" on Television in it's third season. Loved the action and the interplay of the characters. I thought it was well scripted, and the actors were perfectly cast for the roles. Followed it through the rest of the third season and the fourth. Then, it's canceled.

I was so glad to find it on DVD. Purchased the first season, totally satisfied. Now I can see the development of the characters from the beginning. If you are an action/adventure fan with a patriotic streak and enjoy drama (Shakespearian comes to mind with the betrayal aspect of the commander) you will not be disappointed!

I intend to buy the subsequent season as well. All this from someone who does *not* routinely purchase DVD's, particularly TV shows!Vollständige Rezension lesen...

We discovered The Unit late, but it is now our favorite show.

Though we discovered this series just a few months ago, it has come to be our favorite choice on the DVR. Until we found out that there were too many gaps in our collection. Thus the order from ebay to get the entire collection. Though The Unit does show a lot of violence, as one would expect from a special ops team, the message that shines through is love of country, love of truth, love of family, with concern for themselves coming last. My husband and I bought the collection, so that we will always be able to watch entertainment with traditional values like honor and integrity. Wonderful Show - Great Realism

For service members and their spouses this show may hit too close to home; which may make it difficult to watch. The great thing about this show is that it shows both sides of military life - those of the service member and those of the spouses/families left behind. The show also portrays military families as just as involved - support wise / behind the scenes.

It has great action, and shows the heroism of military members in a positive light. It realistically comaderie and fellowship that exists in a cohesive military unit. Especially in a unit that faces life or death on every mission that they go on.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Not disappointed. I could not remember the series until I read and saw the characters. A very fast moving video.

The set was well cared for. I liked this TV program while is was being aired several years ago. I have already recd. Unit series #2 and waiting on arrival of Unit #3.

A great re-enactment of "Inside the Delta Force"

As a former soldier, I am always drawn to story lines that show the heart and very nature of what free men take for granted. This series was incredibly well done considering that is is for regular television.
I highly reccomend reading the book it is based off of. The reading was far better than the mini-series. Together they are an incredible set of media.
We have the finest men at arms within the SFODD. I am glad to know that there are but a few that fill the billet and serve without question. This is certainly a profession that chooses you.Vollständige Rezension lesen...
