A Perfect Intro into Taoism. Simplicity is power.
I read this book for the first time during my pet dog's, of over 10 years, battle with cancer. It put me at ease at a time when my mind was in a very dark place.
"One of the basic principles of Taoism is P'U, the Uncarved Block. The essence of the Uncarved Block is that things in their original simplicity contain their own natural power, power that is easily spoiled and lost when that simplicity is changed. This principle not only applies to things, but to people as well."
This book is full of examples and analogies relating the simplicity of Taoism to everyday life. The fact that it explains it in such a way that a child could understand it, speaks volumes of the concept of simplicity that the author was trying to convey. If anything, it's a crash course into Taoism. A short book that fits nicely in your pocket. A perfect read for public transportation. A great starter book into Taoism. You'll want to read much more into this ancient philosophy once you complete this book. I've read it many times since then. and it still brings me to a calmer, simpler place.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Intro to Taoism?
This book sold a lot of copies in the US and is pitched as an introduction to Taoism using the character and adventures of 'you know who' as an example... Easy to read but the Author wasn't a professional writer when he wrote it and it shows, well put together though and entertaining that's for sure... I'm not an expert on the Tao so I can't comment on how close it is as to taoist philosophy but it's worth a read then pass it on... Good gift for out of work stockbroker types (or in work)who need to chill...Vollständige Rezension lesen...
