THE SKULLS TRILOGY
In the first (1st) movie of the trilogy, We witness writer John Pogue’s portrayal of the most elite secret society at Yale, Skull n’ Bones, which has a history dating back to the time of King Solomon of Israel. In this episode the traditional selection of members and the traditional rules are challenged in 1990’s and even adult professional members must take sides when a murder is committed, and the very existence of the organization at Yale is threatened with full exposure. The questions here is who will win, Skull n’ Bones or common law? The climax is borne from the interplay of institution v. morality. In the second (2nd) movie which was written by the team of Rodionoff & Colucci-Zieger and produced by Pogue & Moritz, We see that that Skull n’ Bones is attempting to carry out its usual legacy admitting tradition in conjunction with discovering new, non-traditional recruits for this elite organization which provides not only monetary benefits while in college but also provides bright and highly lucrative professional careers for Its graduates. In this instance, tradition is played against the coming new-guard for control of the antiquated organization, in other words a non-traditional member has been granted control over an old-guard pledge and the very existence of the institution is once again challenged when yet another murder is committed and morality is re-tested against the rules of Skull n’ Bones. In the third (3rd) and final movie of the trilogy which was written by yet another new author, Joe Johnson, but produced by the same pair as the SKULLS II, We see a very foolish and strange challenge of Skull n’ Bones by a coed who also happens to be a legacy … . Her victory is pyrrhic in reality when she and her parental legacy are forced to take an opposing position to the antiquated and religiously based organization, once more, due to information about a murder, her life as well as the professional career and life of her father are threatened. This climax is different, however, because it results in a reassessment of moral values and quality of life by the protagonists in this final movie of the trilogy. In My personal opinion, having spent more than seven (7) of My life at Yale, the SKULLS Trilogy is a very entertaining series of movies based upon not only average knowledge of the organization but also average knowledge of Yale University & New Haven, CT.Vollständige Rezension lesen
