One For Die-Hard Fans
I really like The Selecter, but this album is pure filler; which I would imagine was purely a money making venture on behalf of the record company. I got a brand new, sealed copy for a good price, so I can't complain that much. But, having listened to the album, it's obvious why these tracks were not released at the time they were made. The best example is the opening track. It's an average version of Sweet and Dandy by Toots and the Maytals. It's ok for the first few minutes, but it just descends into repetitive monotony and seems to go on forever. The On My Radio remix is interesting, but again, it goes on far too long and is quite wishy-washy compared to the excellent original single version. I'm sure the band wouldn't be overly happy about this release, but I still give it 3 stars because it is rescued by 2 or 3 good tracks and I'm going to give it a few more listens to see if it grows on me.Vollständige Rezension lesen
