Disappointed with Criterion Collection version.

After reading a previous review I was careful to get the uncensored version of this classic film. Unfortunately, that's about all I got.

The Criterion Collection supposedly 'focuses on licensing important classic and contemporary films and selling them to film aficionados. Criterion is noted for helping to standardize a number of new ideas, such as the letterbox format for widescreen films, adding bonus features, commentary tracks, doing film restoration , and releasing special editions for home video.'

There was NONE of this except that it's a widescreen version. Absolutely NO special features, commentary, perspective, nothing. The 'restoration' wasn't even that great. A lot of noise at start of film, and then maybe I just got used to it and didn't notice.

This is the 2nd time I've been disappointed with a Criterion film, surely not a guarantee of superior quality. A shame.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Like I remember

strange but true

A rather interesting tale of how bizarre the Nazis were mixed in with sadistic and sometimes brutal sex--great acting as Charlotte Rampling remains one of my favorites
