This author has such a fabulous reputation it is a shame the owner of this book didn't regard this book .

the book was not to my standard acceptable. some very stained pages. I have bought many previously owned cookbooks from other sights without this problem. frequently leave my books out to browse.

Great Book if you are learning to bake bread

I am trying to learn to bake my own breads and saw this featured on a few you tube videos and figured I would give it a shot. It's incredible. Very detailed in explaining how to do what you need to do. I haven't mastered bagels yet but I'm working on it! :)Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Best for learners and also for serious bakers.

Very detailed instructions and very knowledgeable. Not just how to do it, but why. Great variety of recipes. Illustrations help a lot.

The Bread Bible by Rose Levy Beranbaum (2003)

I love this book!
Rose takes the reader/user on a journey, step by step, from basic ingredients to gorgeous finished products. She used weights to measure her ingredients and after once getting used to this, the reader realizes that no matter what the conditions, the product will always turn out the same. This method is more concise than the usual 1/4, 1/2, cups, tsp. etc. But Rose does give you the equivalent of the measurements if you would rather use the American versions of measurement.
I am lucky enough to now have all of her books and this is most certainly a bible. It will lead you through the bread making baking process with awesome results. I especially like the fact that there are MANY different types of recipes in this book. The brioche is awesome!
I enjoy the fact that Rose is akin to having a teacher in your kitchen, one on one. The reader is taught each detail of the process. But once the reader has established Rose' methods the recipes are easy to do.
My only fault that I find is..the index could be a little more user friendly to find recipes.

Giving as a gift. Looks like lots of good recipes. This cookbook includes some pictures & illustrations.

Great Resource

I bake bread at least once a week and I've been using this book for several years as my go to bread book. The recipes and techniques are concise and consistently yield good results.
