Mini messaging maestro
The Mini Pro manages to pack a full Qwerty keyboard into a phone that's shockingly tiny to begin with, measuring only 52 by 90 by 17mm when closed. The keyboard makes the phone feel rather chunky, but you should still be able to slide it into a pocket without too much bother.
When we first heard of the Mini Pro, we had a hard time imagining who would want a phone with the body of the Tesco VX1 Party Phone and the keyboard of an email powerhouse like the Motorola Milestone. But the Mini Pro's keyboard is a pleasant surprise, and makes the handset easier to use than its sibling, since you don't have to fumble around with an on-screen keyboard. When the slider's closed, the Mini Pro also offers a virtual keyboard that's well optimised for the little screen.
The physical keyboard has small keys, but there's plenty of space between them and they're raised slightly, so they're easy to use. We had no trouble typing emails and text messages accurately, although staring into the tiny screen tended to make us go cross-eyed.
With the keyboard stowed away, the Mini Pro looks remarkably small
Combined with the great social-networking apps that are available for Android, and the phone's fast Wi-Fi and HSPA connectivity, the keyboard makes the Mini Pro a good phone for chewing the fat online.
Elderly Android
The Mini Pro runs Android 1.6, which is a relatively old version of the operating system -- phones like the Google Nexus One run version 2.2. That means you'll miss out on some handy features in later versions of the OS, such as built-in support for Exchange email. You'll also miss out on a few of the apps in the Android Market, and there's no multi-touch zoom feature either.
Even if you could pinch your fingers together on the screen to zoom in, it's hard to imagine fitting more than one digit onto the Mini Pro's 64mm (2.5-inch) display. Fortunately, Sony Ericsson has done a good job of making the tiny interface usable. The icons are large and easily to poke, and four shortcuts sit in the corners of each of the home screens, allowing you to access your favourite functions quickly.
You can also swipe through a maximum of 20 home screens, putting a widget on each. It's too bad that the widgets don't fill more of the screen -- most of them sit in the middle -- but it's handy to have access to live info without having to open a separate app, like your calendar, for example.
All of Sony Ericsson's Android phones so far, including the flagship Xperia X10, offer a feature called Timescape. It leaves us flat. Timescape brings together your Twitter and Facebook updates, as well as missed calls and texts, into a zippy timeline that you flick through with a finger. But it doesn't show enough of each message on the screen, and, if you want to see more, you have to wait for the relevant Web site to load. We recommend you try downloading one of the Facebook or Twitter clients from the Android Market instead.
Conclusion
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini is charmingly tiny, but we don't think there's a big market for such a small phone. The addition of a keyboard makes the X10 Mini Pro surprisingly usable, as long as you don't mind its little screen. It's not a phone for media lovers or Web junkies, but, if you're seeking smart-phone prowess in a ridiculously small package, the X10 Mini Pro could be worth a look.

My Sony Ericsson X10 mini pro Mobile Phone
I wanted an x10 mini when they first came out but i get stressed out with fully touchscreen phones as i'm forever pressing the wrong button.I decided to buy the x10 mini pro because it was the phone i wanted but with a slide out keypad.
WHAT'S RIGHT WITH IT:
It has the same functions as most standard Sony Ericssons with some nice extra, such as You Tube, Facebook & Twitter apps, easy connection to your email, saves messages as a 'chat' conversation andit has a cool Timescape app for all new info on your phone to appear in a little tile on the screen. So if you've got a missed call, a mate had updated their facebook app & you've got a multimedia msg then it will all appear on your screen so that you can choose what to sort out first!
The phone itself is quite a cute size & the slide out keypad doesn't add too much bulk to the phone. The keypad's buttons are a little too plastic for my liking but they work just fine.
The signal & battery life are pretty standard & the charger is quite interesting as it's just a plug and you have to plug the USB lead into the plug to charge your phone. This would be a great help to the environment (as sony ericsson want it to be) if they didn't still end up wrapping all the individual bits in mini plastic bags anyway!!
The camera's pretty good for standard use & you can choose whather to use the Geoscape function or not to tag where you took the photo. In the box you generally get;

WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT:
The back is a little bit of a pain to get off as it it pulls off from one side. The touchscreen itself is a little sensitive as, quite a lot, i'm trying to scrollup or down and it just chooses something itself as it thinks i've touched it and i've yet to find the '&' symbol in the messages which is a pain as i use it a lot !

sony ericsson xperia x10 mini pro
Sony Ericsson has done a gr8 job in putting all the features of a an android smartphone with touchscreen into such a small device (x10 mini / mini pro). It performs all the functions very well.
The phone cannot handle effectively, both 3g and wifi internet connections (altogether). as if the skype application is running on 3 network which requires to use 3g connection and at the same time you want to use wifi for any other application, the wifi will work but the skype application will say that it needs to use 3g network and will ask you to turn off wifi !!!! which i believe is just not efficient.
The video cammera of the device lags a lot !! it is no way near a 5 mega pixel cam of nokia or any other good device. when you play the video made with this phone, u get a blak screen for 2 seconds with recorded sounds and then the video comes on !!!
the build quality of the phone on 3 network is just tooo queekky , the plastic makes sounds when you press it all arround.
MOST OF ALL THE EXTREMELY SHORT LIFE OF THE BATTERY MAKES THE PHONE PRACTICALLY UNUSABLE. AS IT DOES NOT LAST MORE THAN 20 HOURS WHEN CONSTANTLY USING SKYPE AND OTHER WIDGETS ON THE PHONE.

This handset is the BEST SONY ERICSSON so far!!
I decided to buy it because it was the "PRO" version (with a built-in QWERTY keyboard, that slides out), and I don't regret it. This TINY handset is remarkable in that SONY ERICSSON has been able to miniaturize a full-function SMART phone into a package small enough to fit entirely in the palm of your hand. The menu-interface is possibly second-to-none in it's responsiveness, ease of use and clarity. I especially like the touchscreen. You can tell that this is a TOP-QUALITY item. TWO niggles, that let this phone down, are the fact that it can be difficult to view web-pages on something so small (this is overcome by zooming-in to pages - but this hampers the experience AND you have to keep doing it every time to change the web-page). The second niggle, is something that most people won't have a problem with, the battery-cover is UNBELIEVABLY DIFFICULT TO REMOVE. RIDICULOUSLY DIFFICULT. This would pose a problem if you frequently swapped SIMS, as I do. I rate this handset 8.5-9/10. (would have been 9.5-9.9 /10 if it weren't for the afore-mentioned niggles). For geeks with plenty of extra cash, a SIM-free Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini would make an ideal party phone. It's tiny enough to take out on the town, but you still get all your Android apps, and your contacts and other data will be automatically synced with your main phone over the cloud.
The Mini is also a good choice for anyone who wants a small handset, but still wants to dip their toes into the world of apps and other smart-phone perks. Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini pro Mobile Phone
Bought this for my husband's xmas present. His old phone was causing problems especially the touch screen.
He usually likes to chose his own phone but I took a chance and he is really pleased with it.
Very easy to use texting is simple with the aid of the keyboard. The touch screen is very responsive.
It has lots of apps and he is still having fun trying new things with it.
It is still supported by Sony Ericsson so he is able to download upgrades.

NO BLUETOOTH CONNECTION
I got this phone as an upgrade and was very disappointed in Sony for producing such a useless smart phone! I cannot connect to anyones bluetooth, I can't delete multiple items like call log etc as you can only select 1 at a time to delete, battery life is a joke and is drained to empty after 1 day and thats without 3g and bluetooth switched on!!!! In general it takes much longer to do simple tasks than any other phone I've had in the past! I've always liked Sony phones but the x10 has put me off them as you'd think they'd get better at producing mobile phones not worse!Vollständige Rezension lesen...
Basic smartphone that does the job
If you want a small, handheld and basic phone, with a fast internet browsing and accessible android market then this is the phone for you.
Everything on it is pretty basic and simple, although it does take a while to get used it (but I think that's the same with any new phone you buy) but once you get passed that - then its pretty simple and everythings accesssible to get to. Its very responsive to the touch and the internet is very fast with a wi-fi connection.
As its too basic some areas lack a lot functionality where needed i,e. the camera and video functions are very limited, all it has is a button for a light and auto, sport, twilight and macro mode and thats it. It has no fucntions for say a self timer, camera modes, quality of picture, etc. Although the camera itself does take a decent quality picture at 5 mega pixel.
All in all, its a good basic phone, will go nice in the handbag (for a girl) and will prep you well for a next level android smartphone, i.e. HTC HD DESIRE.Vollständige Rezension lesen...
