Excellent Camera with Great Features and User Friendly

Many years ago I bought the first in this series, the H1. I loved it! Then it died. After a suitable period of mourning I found this, the HX400V. I hoped it would live up to the legacy of its great-grandaddy. As far as I can tell, it surpasses it by far! I suspect this camera is more intelligent than me! The pictures are only bad when I use the wrong settings. If I let the camera make the decisions (use Auto) the photos are crisp, clear, and beautiful. The zoom function is incredible, and with the built in image stabilization, there's very little to no blurring even at full zoom. Good affordable photo and video camera for consumer use

It cannot shoot RAW photo files, but I find the HX400V versatile and convenient to shoot JPEGs and 1080p AVCHD video for personal use. Its best features are a very compact motorized 50x optical zoom f 2.8 Zeiss lens and various automatic modes that give good consistent images, plus wireless transfer and an amazing handheld 360 degree panorama photo mode. The GPS has yet to work. Manual settings via extensive menus is NOT quick or easy. The LCD screen has tilt hinges but no touch control nor flip around for selfies. It has a built in pop up TTL flash plus MIS hotshoe for powerful flash units like a Godox TT685s that costs a fraction of a comparable Sony flash. The hotshoe can mount a Sony GZ1M mini shotgun mic in auto gain mode with some hiss, but the built in audio playback speaker is inaudible. This is adequate for home videos and travelogues, but not pro use. I also bought a 55mm UV filter, cut out wide angle lens hood and Wasabi BX1 extra batteries and charger as accessories. Lots of great and useful featues.

Great zoom, great menu features and great image quality. There is an awful lot to like with this camera. Also like that the web has some great tutorials for all levels of users. Manuals that come with the camera are lacking.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Camera has great features. The wifi and zoom are best. There is much to learn about this camera. I had the h9.. The flash doesn't automatically pop up when needed. Easy, good quality at great price!

I love this camera for it's great zoom power and clear pictures even st a distance. The image stabilization is very helpful for many of my shots as I photograph birds in action. I have submitted some of my photos to bird watcher sites for the first time because I am proud of how good they come out! I might even try taking some pictures of people eventually! Great digital camera with lots of features--at a great price.

Needed a camera with high resolutions to shot pictures of my wife's art work. This is a "Great" all around digital camera with a "great" zoom and 20+ mega pixel resolution--and, easy to operate.

Good Camera

Great camera for the price point. Good anti blur function at low light and very capable zoom. Bluetooth transfer of photos to my smartphone works well.
Only criticism is of the camera settings wheel on the top of the camera. It can slip out of position. Would like to see Sony install some type of lock once a setting has been chosen. Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Lots of editing features plus no changing lenses and Ligihtweight

I know I'll love it more as I travel and begin to use all the features that I don't have available
in Photoshop. It's just for those of us who love to revision what we see beyond the image on

Love this camera

I gave this three stats because I love this camera but I can hear it running when it is on and a bit worried about the costant motor sound. Hoping that's normal. Not real loud just there.
