Brilliant AND portable

Everyone in my family likes baseball which we watch on mlb.tv. We used to connect to that app by a smart bluRay player (Panasonic) that could access it. When the MLB no longer supported that player we had to find an alternative and the Roku does the job extremely well, with excellent HD video content and very stable streaming. We haven't tried any of the other features since it was bought for that specific purpose, but I would expect it to perform equally well with other apps.

The best thing for us, though, is that we can unplug the Roku stick and take it from the big screen in our front room to another one, so long as we have made provision for USB power to be available.

It was also considerably less than I paid for the bluRay!

Brilliant Streaming Stick

It was simple to set up and has a nice remote control. In use, it starts quickly, has great picture quality and no buffering at all. The previous well known brand took over 2 mintues to load some applications, such as Disney, whereas this takes seconds.There was also buffering and jerkiness in film playback whereas on the Roku we have not had any at all. There was also a slowness in respone from the remote but not anymore. Not got to grips with the voice command yet but it will find film titles.
Watching Disney has gone from a pain to a pleasure, wished I had bought one sooner.

There is one note of caution though, this stick is longer and only just fits into the recessed area on the back of the TV where the HDMI slots are. Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Stream films etc, Screen mirror, small dongle and hand control.

Great if you've got fast internet and wish to ditch the satellite dish or freeview box. Acess to the major streaming services including BBC ITV CH4 etc etc. The free "Roku" channel is pretty good though it plays slightly older box sets of stuff. If you telly is compatible one control handles volume, on/off and the usual navigation and play pause stuff. Any HDMI compatible display (tv or computer screen) will work. Great piece of kit! Bit annoying have setup account to fully get it working but I guess that's 'Big Brother' for you!
Pic quality is great (and I'm not using 4K TV) minimal buffering (but obvs depends on ur internet)!
Would be good if they supplied longer lead for USB power as with what they give u they must think pple have mains socket less than 6in frm back (or side) of their TV! TV USB doesn't provide enuff power!
Would be nice have bit more guide to selecting channels as lots are subscription but you don't find out until to install it and try access prog! Would be good for NetFlix account holders straight off!
Useful if you don't have ariel or satellite connections! Helps you place TV where you'd like rather than where architect / sparky thought would be good place! Plus you can take it with you when travelling / holiday etc. so saves kids being stuck on small phone / tablet screens ALL time! Good for movie nights in!

Brilliant product! Worth every penny.

Turned my ten year old TV into a very versatile Smart TV and upgraded the 720p (which was the sharpest picture I could get on my HD ready TV via terrestrial Freeview) to 1080p HD, which is a visibly better picture. Lots of great catch-up TV and free channels so you don't really need to go down the Netflix/subscription route at all. Good bit of kit

I already have one, but wanted another for a different room. Netflix, Now and Prime installed and the total is cheaper than sky.
The stick was brand new and arrived fast.
Very pleased.

the best streaming device

I've used owned the new Google Chromecast, and the Amazon Firestick, but sold them all again and bought the Roku. The Roku is the one i like most. It has all the UK streaming services (unlike some smart TVs and the Google & Amazon sticks) and a nice simple interface. This 4k version has great sound, great picture, voice control, is fast and slick. I also use it with my Plex media server, which works brilliantly (fast, smooth, no buffering etc). First foray into internet TV

The Roku stick and remote control are excellent. Obviously dependent on the quality of your WiFi strength, but ours connects impeccably with router on opposite side of building and on different floor.
I took one star off as I thought I could control some options via Google Home, and was terribly disappointed to find you can't even control the volume. This is probably more Google's fault than Roku's though, to be fair.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Brilliant (when it works).

Brilliant (when it works). But it occasionally "freezes" and pressing any remote button has no immediate effect. You press a button and about a minute later it responds. Then next press = another minute wait, and so on. A minute is a long time lag so it is possible to select what you want but you have to be . . . . . v e r y v e r y p a t i e n t. !!

After reading various blogs online and trying lots of things (new batteries / HDMI extension lead / TV USB power source instead of mains / rebooting stick and wifi etc etc etc, etc yawn) I now suspect it is intermittent dodgy connections with the remote's batteries . If you open the battery cover on the remote and roll the batteries around and wiggle them about, it seems to address the issue (most of the time). Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Good performance, not so flexible.

Good for set up and easy to customise desired apps that are installed.
Good for casting other apps from tablet to TV but you cant add apps like you can with some other sticks so you always need a phone or tablet, unless anyone knows different?Vollständige Rezension lesen...
