A good Ratchet but not great.

I got Ratchet Deadlocked a few days ago, it's a bit diffrent from the other Ratchet and clank games. Clank gets some time off and in place Ratchet gets to AI bots to help him out. Basically in gameplay terms the goofy gadgets and platforming is left out so we can have more action.

The basic story is Ratchet is kidnapp by a man named Vox and is forced to fight in gladiator matches, the game pokes fun of Stephen Kings running man.

You don't get has many wepaons but what you do get our useful and can be modded to make them your own. Acid mods will lower enemies helath while freezing mods will allow your weapons to freeze enemies and you can mod on the fly. Weapons also level up while you battle.

Graphics our gorgerous for a PS2 game and Ratchet and the crew our animated beatifully. There is some slow down.

In the end Ratchet Deadlocked isen't has good has other Ratchet games but it's still pretty good.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Keeps Series Great

Insomniac Games brings back one of its most beloved characters, Ratchet, in RATCHET: DEADLOCKED for the PS2. Although more of the focus is on combat instead of the traditional platform action, Deadlocked still plays similar to the previous RATCHET AND CLANK games. RATCHET: DEADLOCKED begins shortly after the end of RATCHET AND CLANK: Up your Arsenal. The three heroes, Ratchet, Clank, and mechanic Al, have just finished their latest mission when they are captured by galactic villain Gleeman Vox. Vox plans to use the heroes as part of his reality TV arena show, Dreadzone, where heroes are forced to fight each other to the end. The major difference in RATCHET: DEADLOCKED is that Clank is no longer on Ratchet's back. Instead, he will occasionally supply Ratchet with a necessary gadget. This takes out many of the platformer elements of the series, leaving Ratchet to mostly battle his way through the eleven different Dreadzone levels with the help of two combat bots. Gamers can find a number of different weapons and gadgets throughout the game, including the incredibly destructive Harbinger gun. The more Ratchet uses a particular weapon, the more powerful it will become. Several different vehicles are also available. In addition to the main storyline, players can also compete in a number of Dread challenges on each level, complete side tasks, collect skill points, and battle each other in a number of different multiplayer modes. An enjoyable game to play!

We love the Ratchet and Clank series of games. They're all high-quality, well-thought, and well-produced games. The latest, "Deadlocked", is no exception.

Deadlocked changes the tradional paradigm of the Ratchet series, in that you do not collect hidden bolts (like Gold bolts, Platinum bolts, etc.), and there is little or no "exploration and adventure" to the game.

You solve problems, fight off the baddies, and collect experience (a real plus held over from the previous games). You also have the new ability to choose overall difficulty level (like "Couch Potato" or "Exterminator"). This can be changed at any time by loading a saved game and making a choice. This is a nice feature for families (like ours) who have gamers of diverse ability.

Overall, it is a great game - a worthy addition to the franchise. The animated cartoon violence is no more or less that previous games, there is no profanity (not that I heard, anyway), and the character development story is interesting.

The commentary from the game's "announcers" can be annoying at times, but can be turned off ("Juanita, since Ratchet is a tough cookie, I wonder what kind of cookie he would be? I'm going with Snickerdoodles." )Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Another Hit

This latest Ratchet game is wel done. Though it doesn't quite follow the game type lines of the first 3, but the way this one is still set up is still well-done.

Imagine yourself as a futuristic gladiator, and you have many weapons at your disposal. That adrenaline pumping action is just what it is like in DEADLOCKED. You have a good amount of weapons at your disposal, and you can upgrade, upgrade, upgrade, upgrade; get the hint. You take control of Omega Mods and Alpha mods to customize your favorite weapon. Like when you have the dual Raptors, you can have 1 Jackpot mod and all ammo mods if you wanted to. Or, if want the Fusion rifle to have all the aim mods and 1 Jackpot mod, go right ahead if you can. The last weapon, THE HARBINGER, is also a customizable weapon.

Vehicle wise you have 3: Stalker, Hovership,and Puma. Plus in single player, your 2 robot dudes. The hover ship is almost like the 3rd and 2nd, but "tricked out". These are repairable at certain vehicle pods.

Online, single player, and Co-op are all fantastic.

Pro's- Mentioned above

Con's- robot friends can be dumb at times.
The mega-weapons upgrade a bit too fast( about 2-3 kills)

Ratchet: Deadlocked for the Playstation 2

I bought this product because I have played the other rachet and clank games. I enjoyed playing the other games and this one to. It is a great addition to the series. There are many weapons to choice from but what makes this game different from the others is that you can customize your weapons. Being able to do this and upgrade your battle bots, another new feature, makes the game worth playing at least twice. Here however is where the game looses points. It is just to short. If you have played pervious Rachet and Clank games then you will probally beat it in a weekend. The replay value is good though so I most certainly recommend it.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

I love this game its a lot of fun its pretty destructive. The campaign is also optionally 2 players or you can solo it with customizable AI bots.You get to customize the weapons with mods and the best ones are hands down the ammo mod, blast radius, and the shock mod which is overpowered. After you beat the game it gets even better you can level up all the weapons to level 99 which is really easy. I maxed all the weapons in about a hour. There are a very mainly optional time trial vehicle challenges and the controls are very polished and responsive. As you increase the difficulty the enemies hit harder and are harder to kill so i wouldnt reccomend increasing the difficulty until you beat the game and get your health up. Otherwise enemies will one hit you. The game will bring you about 3-4 hours of unique gameplay provided you clear all the stages in one attempt and practically speed run it which is very possible considering the very polished combat system which builds off of everything all the previous titles offered. Awesome game overall. Ratchet: Deadlocked is amazing.

When I heard about Ratchet: Deadlocked, I was VERY excited. I played the game previous to it in the series, Up your Arsenal, in the online mode. The very first day it came out, I got Ratchet: Deadlocked. I was one of the very first people to play the online mode of that game. I was also a beta tester. (I have to say, the beta was actually better.) The online mode is AMAZING. There are 5 different game modes, and they are all extremely fun. Insomniac are genious's for creating this game in only 1 year. They made the rules for online play fair, and everything works perfect. The 5 different modes in online play are Capture the Flag, Conquest, Deathmatch, Juggernaught, and King of the Hill. My favorite would be Capture the Flag and Deathmatch, but that is only my opinion. In the online mode, you are able to make your own game, or join somebody else's. You can make your own rules, according to how you like to play. The ONLY thing I have to say that is bad about Deadlocked is the Community. After christmas, it was crazy how many n00bs and 5-7 year olds actually got the game. If you play with them, which is almost all the time, considering how many there are, they scream and yell for you killing them. (killing is not a bad thing, you're SUPPOSED to do it, and yet they scream and crie over it.) That is realy my only complaint. If you don't have a headset, you can use a keyboard in the staging room to talk to your friends. There are also great forums at Insomniacgames.com for the games. One of the best forums, I think. Thanks for reading this, and I hope it persuaded you into buying this game. Great Game

This has been one of my favorite games on the PS2. I’m so glad I have it back in my life. My roommate and I played for hours on end. Great value for what I got

Cool shooter game!

Let me start by saying that this is probably the only shooter game that I actually like. I like this game because it is easy to shoot an enemy that you come across. You don't have to worry about ammo, there is plenty to go around. You don't really have to worry about fighting either, your bots can kill most enimies and all you have to do is revive them. The only problem with this game is you start with the low health of 12, which means you can die alot quicker but as you kill enimies your health grows. I've gotten my health to 52 and most of my weopons to level 10 before the end of the game. I love this game for th simple fact that it is from the Ratchet & Clank series. I decided to buy this game because I thought it would be fun and I hit the bullseye on that one. A Step Back from Formula But Still Fun!!!

Deadlocked puts Ratchet into his own adventure with limited Clank action. But you are still a real hero in this battle. I say battle because there is no real storyline. It just feels like battle after battle instead of adventures. You are a star on a reality TV show and must fight your way out of the situation so each mission is like a giant arena area. The big guns are still here and new vehicles make for some fun. The emphasis is really on the multiplayer because it has been improved since Up Your Arsenal and is an all out war online or offline. Co-op has also been included this time around which is a nice addition. Having friendly bots to protect you is also a big plus because you will need them to buy enough time to take out your enemies. Deadlocked may not be as adventurous or as much as a platformer as previous installments but there is plenty of gunplay to keep any fan of the game happy enough for a purchase.
