Works as advertized

I have recently installed this fuel pump as a replacement of the mechanical one in my hobby car (VW Jetta Mk2 1.6 (engine code PN)). The pump is placed in accordance to the nice installation instructions that came with the product (that is on the same place where the electrical fuel pump for the models equipped with a fuel injection systems is installed). The recommended components (coarse filter (Pierburg 4.00030.80.0), non-return valve (Pierburg 7.20469.51.0), and a safety shut-off relay (KAE 3.300.100)) were installed as well. After the installation the engine started immediately (though it was shut down for approximately 1.5 months). So far no issues. There are some notes however:
- it is rather noisy (audible from the cabin at idle);
- the electrical connector is rather cumbersome in a sense that it is not clear how to provide an adequate protection for it. I've used a 2 way Bosch connector boot (which fits there quite tight) to protect it from moisture.
- the installation instructions recommend to install it as low as possible (i.e. under the car's body - that's what I did) but at the same time they state that "the aluminium housing must not come into contact with salt water"). Looks like 2 mutually exclusive statements. So I have coated the aluminium body with some aluminium primer and also replaced the supplied P-clips (galvanized steel) with the ones made of the stainless steel.

Summary: a good product, works as advertised but has some minor (from my point of view) flaws.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Pierburg Kraftstoffpumpe

Relativ einfache Installation. Die Schlauchschellen habe ich nicht verwendet, die sahen mir zu windig aus.
Wenn die Pumpe an die Karosserie geschraubt werden soll, unbedingt noch extra Montagematerial zum entkoppeln verwenden. Die Halteschelle ist zwar schon gut dick mit Gummi ausgerüstet, allerdings ist die Pumpe im Innenraum und auch draußen noch sehr stark zu hören.
