Exceptionally good monitor
The 4K piXL is sold at an exceptional price for a 28" 4K monitor. I was aware that it needed careful adjustment to the screen colour, contrast and brilliance settings on installation. After a lot of adjustment, including comparing the screen to my HD laptop, the 4K piXL is a lot better than the 22 inch HD monitor it replaced. The images on the screen are superbly sharp and clear. It brings a new dimension to watching movies or programmes likely Strictly Come Dancing on my PC. I can't comment on PC Gaming as the monitor is not used for that. Cheap but it really doesn't disgrace itself at all. A real bargain.
Yes it's cheap - it's the cheapest 4K monitor you'll find anywhere. But it's really rather nice. I kept the peel-off screen protector fitted at first which was a mistake, as it really did effect the colour balance and screen clarity. You really are meant to peel it off! Now I've started to look at the picture quality with a critical eye. I did think it needed brightness, contrast and sharpness turned up but really it doesn't - just leave them at 50% (factory default). I have messed with the white balance / colour temperature and I've gone for "user" rather than warm, cool or normal. I find normal still has a tiny hint of blue/cold about it so I've currently got the red turned up to 51 and green and blue turned down to 42 and find the screen's pure white colour now pretty good to my eyes. I've left everything else alone - gamma at 2.2, and I haven't messed with the display response time setting. I'm running it from a UD6950 hub with 4K 60P display port output and it really performs well. You can set windows 10 desktop text and icon magnification down to 100% and away from the 150% it recommends and you can still read the tiniest of text if your (corrected) eyesight is 20:20. The stand is a little flimsy and I purchased a flat plate and pole vesa type for around £11 off ebay. It only said it was for up to 27" monitors but the vesa mount on the back of this monitor is so low down you more than get away with it. I liked the fact they give you the screen only dimensions and purchased on the basis I knew it would fit where I wanted to put it. In fact I've dropped the monitor down to the bottom of the vesa stand and the door from the cupboard I've got above it still swings past it just like it did on my old 21" HD monitor (that sat high up on its own stand). The monitor's control "buttons" are just mouldings in the plastic case on the lower back face right-hand corner that trigger click switches underneath them. It strikes you this has been done for cheapness, but you soon get the hang of navigating the on-screen menus. I haven't tested the audio/speakers yet (it has a 3.5mm audio input jack). Monitor goes into full power saving with no signal present (backlight completely off, etc.) as you experience when locking or sleeping windows, etc. Overall very happy with this monitor - an absolute bargain and I've wanted one for such a long time. Anything it doesn't do quite as well as other more expensive monitors can be fully forgiven at this price - it's the cheapest way of going 4K at home or work. I don't think this monitor is IPS - just a simple TN or STN screen, but the viewing angle and clarity is way better than my old "branded" HD monitor although that is about 7-8 years old now. Comes with separate AC adapter and power cable/plug and it DOES come with a Display Port lead (at least mine did). I did order one separately as the advert never mentioned it came with one - I guess I'll have to return that one or sell it on. Great 4K picture quality on a good size screen.
Perfect for Xbox series x gaming.
Only downside is no speakers so headset it is but I knew this when I ordered.
