Still good value
Very nice lens. Has to manual focus very tricky to keep from shaking even when useing a tripod. Only get 3 out of 10 shots really sharp.

A bargain for the enthusiast photographer!
Good for me as my experience goes back to the film days when there was no such thing as automatic focusing!
The images are sharp if you have good eyes for focusing!
The Canon 40D has no stabilisation and my tests were only carried out on a hand held monopod and I was pleased with the results in good light!
A tripod would be needed for longer shutter speeds in low light!
