Older camera with great optics and a powerful zoom

This is an older camera (as you can tell by it's max resolution of 4 MP) but it has a great zoom & is reliable for action shots & touristy photos.

It's bulk works against it, and you will probably want to get at least 1 spare battery (it takes a proprietary one that you can't pick up while on vacation). It also uses xD memory cards, which aren't the cheapest or easiest to find.

But, for $50, I'm willing to accept those minor flaws. 4mp is great for most things, the flash is powerful, and the video quality is decent. Surprisingly Flexible and Powerful

You would think that a camera this of this age would be obsolete, but this camera is exactly what most people need. You can simply point and shoot, or you can do more - like some decent macro capabilities. It's a little complex in the menus, but Olympus quality that still shines. Olympus C 765 Ultra Zoom, a great buy

New cameras are on a megapizel craze and many buyers might pass on this older Olympus because its "only" 4 megapixels. Problem is, many new cameras provide more megapixels than the human eye can discern. People are paying for big megapixel numbers and don't get any functional benefit from them.

While 4 megapixels on this camera isn't optimal, its more than adqduate for most uses. Most people will find its 10x optical zoom a lot more beneficial than a couple extra megapixels.

I first bought one of these new back when they were $450.It died after 6 years of use and almost 5000 photos. Certainly nothing to complain about there.

Functional cameras of this model with an almost new appearance typically sell on ebay for less than 20% of the original price.

Weak points include the control labels. The text typically wears off rather quickly. And the silver finish deteriorates with handling. It may help to wipe the skin oil off after each use.

Be careful if using in a dusty environment. The telescoping lens mechanism is not well sealed. Its possible for dust or sand to make its way in between the lens elements.

When buying, try to find one with a larger than standard memory card. The standard 16 mb card is inadquate. A 128mb card will hold about 130 photos 2288 x 1712 SQ and should be considered the minimum necessary.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Perfect for clock repair and documenting other repairs

I have two of these cameras. I bought this one for a backup but have been using both. It works very well for taking photos of clock movements prior to disassembly to take the guess work out of reassembly. Takes sharp closeups with the dual macro capability. Has an excellent quality lens that produces great digital photos. I also take photos of the cases and any case repairs that is accomplished. outstanding picture quality and magnificent range.

Have had other Camedia models. Each has outstanding picture quality and magnificent range. The 765 adds recharageable lion battery to the mix. GREAT CAMERA, FANTASTIC ZOOM

This is a rerun of a camera for me. What I love about it is the ZOOM - 30 to 40x zoom. Megapixels - last camera 3.2, this one 4.0. That is enough for most families!! Unless you plan to print a billboard| Most people do not know how to reduce the pixels to send via email anyway. What I don't like is that when the battery goes dead, you have to make sure you re-enter the DATE so that it records into the information of the picture.

I have taken pictures of birds about 200 feet away and get a nice clear picture. The color is also very good. Generally a great point and shoot camera.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Great Camera!

This camera can zoom incredibly and has good quality. There is a tremendous amount of settings and options to mess around with for taking pictures. I'm a casual user, just taking pictures of vacations, friends, and family and it is great for me. "Oldie but Goodie". This camera is small, lightweight and takes beautiful pictures- better than my newer cameras.
