I think this is better than the 85mm F1.4
Unless you really need the low light capability of an F1.4, then this is the 85mm full frame lense for you. The images are sharp, and the bokeh is amazing. The auto-focus is not as fast as other lens I have, but this is a lens for portrait work, and not high speed sports. It does not have image stabilisation like the newer Tamron, but again, will you really need it?, just push the ISO a couple of stops if its that important.
This is a full frame lens, it will work with a DX body including all D3xxx, D5xxx, and D7xxx, but it will have an fx field of view equivalent to 127.5mm. If you are looking for a portrait lens and use a crop sensored camera then I would suggest going for the 50mm f1.8 gVollständige Rezension lesen...

Portrait Perfection
Fantastic lens...super sharp, fantastic bokeh and amazing micro contrast....thoroughly recommend. Use it for mainly portrait but very useful for anything needing a short telephoto.

Great portrait lens sharpe and fast at 1.8
Excellent quality lens, light and fast 1.8 lens, great for getting nice bokehs in your portraits. Excellent for lowlight shots too. Well worth for the price .

Good portrait lens
Its a good lens if you want to do just portraits. But if you want a more flexible lens, or can only afford to have one good lens in your kit I'd recommend the 50mm 1.4, as its more diverse.

Great Lens... worthwhile upgrade from the 85mm 1.8D
The lens is sharp and focusses silently. The perfect upgrade from my 85 1.8D. Saves you a decent amount of money if you aren't really concerned with the 'Grey import' snobbery!

Nikon 85mm f1.8 AFS G
Excellent portrait/short tele lens.
Fast focus and very sharp even at full aperture. Vast saving compared with f1.4 version.
