Great workout for a dancer's body!

In college, I had dance classes and the workouts were wonderful. My body looked its best and I long to return to that look. I have owned this DVD set previously, but lost the first disc, which has my fave exercises in it. Love this!Vollständige Rezension lesen...

NYC Ballet-The complete Workout 1&2 DVD

I miss taking ballet classes and decided to give this video a try. I like it because it doesnt spend a lot of time teaching, you just DO IT. It is exercises anyone can do who has ever exercised, you dont have to be proficient in ballet to do this tape, It has a lot of yoga-inspired exercises and stretches and strengthening moves as well as dance moves. It is separated into chapters according to what the section is about. I have done some of them and cant wait to get started doing these exercises on a daily basis. Being a physical education teacher, I know these exercises will produce a stronger core and legs and abdomen. I can't wait to get started! If I had to say anything negative about it, Id say the teacher is not as entertaining as those on other exercise tapes I have seen. A great challenge

This is definitely a workout that does wonders for some but may not be for others. You'll find yourself worrying about being more graceful than actually working out the muscles in your body. I'm not too keen of the exercises that require you to lay down so I advise to watch those steps so you can get accustomed to how fast they take one step to another. This is definitely an adult workout. There is no need for subliminal enthusiasm, no "way to go, you're doing great!" and the music is calming and relaxing. I have always wanted to learn ballet and to incorporate this as a workout, it gets me toned to dancing which I also love to do. As for many people who start a workout dvd, they usually don't have the body for it so I find myself stretching areas of my body that haven't been stretched since highschool. The New Yourk Cuty Ballet Complete Workout

This is a great workout for those that love ballet, or even those people who just want to get a better posture, better stretches in their muscles, and improve their balance. I bought this to help with all of those things. I recently underwent reconstructive surgery on my ankle (years of spraining them), and I want to regain my range of motion and improve my balance and strength before I have the second one done. I also have arthritis in several of my joints, and I know that if I don't keep them moving, they will just get worse. This workout is low-impact, and you can do the stretches to the best of your ability and gradually improve your flexibility. Love it!

I got this DVD after a friend recommended it. We had both been in a ballet class together in college (though neither of us are built like any kind of ballerina I have ever seen!) and we really missed the class. I am about 30 lbs overweight and was looking for something to help me tone and get away from the monotony of doing the elliptical everyday. I was shocked when I tried this workout. It is mostly about slow controlled movements. They are not too hard to execute, no matter how flexible (or NOT flexible!) you are, but they will KICK YOUR BUTT! Within the first week, I noticed my core getting tighter. I thought I had done every ab exercise in the book, but there is one in particular that I have never seen anywhere but this video and man does it work every part of your stomach! Amazing product and value. Former Ballerina feels like a dancer again.

I used to be ballerina 10 years ago before Vertigo struck me and I was advised to give up on my dancing; the New York City Ballet has given me back something I lost long ago. I haven't kept up with my dancing at all in the past 10 years and this work out is designed in a way so that even a beginner or a veteran who is out of shape and practice can pick it up. I love this DVD

I really like this DVD set. I mostly use volume II, as it flows better as a workout. It challenges coordination and balance. I am always a little sore the next day because ballet is unlike most of the exercise that I do on a daily basis (running, surfing, and pilates). I really do not like aerobics videos, and this is definately not Richard Simmons. The music is classical and the dancers are beautiful. I can't help but to feel a little bit more graceful for a few days following the workout. I do it once every week or two, just for that reason and for the added stretching that I should have more of in my life. I tried a ballet class (I am a beginner), and I found that I prefer this video better. The workout is harder and more fluid, and I don't feel silly if a miss a step. I can see how if you are a ballet expert that this might not be for you, but if you are interested in ballet or just a different type of workout, I would definately recommend this.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Great workout! Love the movie!

I love these workout videos. Even though they are easy movements, I found myself sweating and feeling like I just had a great workout. The next day I was sore in muscles I didn't know I had. I felt toned and skinny. The only complaint that I have is the length. The one hour is a long time to devote to a workout video. But if you can find the time, this video is wonderful. It helps you stretch and workout at the same time. It will help you limber up, and become the dancer your inner-child always wanted to be.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Excellent workout and low/no impact! Feel results ASAP!

I previewed this set at my mom's house and thought I'd give it a shot. I have a back injury that prevents impact, but I was feeling really tight. After the first time I did the workout, I felt stretched out and more limber. I do it 4 times a week and it has made a world of difference in my back strength. The guys voice can get irritating, but mute works well. The 1st time I was a little lost, but by the 3-4 time I did the workout, I follow along easily.
Highly recommended for stretch and strengthening workouts! :0)

Got What I Was Looking For

I bought these workout DVDs because I love dance and I was looking for something low key. Low key does not mean that you do not get a workout though. This workout is all about toning and stretching your muscles. If you have every envied a dancers body, this workout is for you. If you ever had the dream of being a dance but just never happened, get this and take back time. For a long, lean workout, this is the workout for you.
