Finally a good Next Gen Football Title from EA

Since Madden06 for my XBox360 I have not had a pleasant NextGen Experience.
The Player Faces were Scary Looking, whoo fire that Art Department...
NCAA Football 07 was the 1st that was even OK. Which I had on my 360.
Now NCAA Football 08 improves that even more.
I bought this years for my PS3 because of my Backwards Compatibility Beef with Microsoft, Can't throw away another Library of Games, so I buy mainly for my PS3... another story...
Anyways the 08 Version is better graphically.
The Game saves Highlights of Big gainer plays and Scores and Interceptions.
You can go thru Mid game or at the End of Game and Save Replays or Pictures, Very Nice.

I typically buy the Rosters which was much easier on the PS3 because you can use a SD Card, Sony Memory Stick, Compact Flash, or even USB Memory Stick and Load it easily on to the PS3. My 360 last year took something called an XSata Interface, my Laptop and an act of god with the Beta Software that you had to use that looked like you were hacking into the Windows Registry. But once you have the Rosters the Announcers will even start announcing the Names.

I wish they had more practice modes and mini games like they had in Previous Gen Maddens on PS2 and XBox. All those Drills were great for practicing individual skills like running down a Running Back with your Line backer, etc.

Not sure if I didn't notice it last year or if it is a new addition, but I liked the Play calling options. There is the Standard by Formation but there was by Play type So I could Pull up Run, then Select Inside, Outside, Counter. I like that type of Play calling alot myself and it was pretty easy to switch back and forth between that and Formation Play calling.

I also like the Controls much better this year for the PreSnap.
Flipping the Run from Left to Right or vice versa was a one button affair, Thank you so much for that one.

Get those Extra Practice/Skill Modes in their and add some more Sideline Activity and we could be looking at a perfect score.

There are flaws, however this is a very fun game!

First of all I've had this game for about 2 months now. I am into my 4th season in Dynasty mode. I feel that the AI is much better this year because I haven't went undefeated every season. I actually haven't went undefeated yet! The recruiting is great and adds depth to an already very fun part of Dynasty.

I do feel that EA could have put out a MUCH better game, however, if you like college football and enjoy the depth of dynasty mode then definitely get this game! The flaws are apparent, but don't take enough away from the game to make you regret buying it.

Some of the things that I dislike are:
-No Create-A-Team
-In Game Stats are very random and don't designate if they are career, season, or game stats. You have to judge that on your own.
-Some uniforms look very glossy and unrealistic

I'm trying to think of other things that I dislike and can't think of any others at the moment. I could go on about things that I wish EA would add to next years game, but I can do that with every game they come out with every year.

Summary:
If you are wanting a fun college game with a deep dynasty mode then buy this game. Its a blast to play and looks very nice on the PS3.

College Football

The main reason I like this game is that you can start or create a player from scratch at the high school level get drafted/scouted by college's that want you to play for them and after your 3 or 4 years in college you can then be transferred into Madden NFL which is one of the satisfaction that you brought a player from the bottom and brought him up to the top. I bought this game because I didn't just want to create a player and then put him in the NFL, I wanted the whole thing from high school to the pros. Graphics are good high quality, but the only thing I didn't really like about it, that the camera views can be difficult depending on what position your playing in the game. I don't know if people would find this helpful, but this is how my feeling on this game is. Overall I would give it a A-, even though I didn't get to do all the stuff on this game yet.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

NCAA 2008 PS3

The graphics could be better on this game. Bought it to play online and you can't beat Playstations free network. Also, I really like that you can connect a standard blue tooth earpiece (the ones you use to talk on you cell phones) to communicate with other players. All-in-all this is a great game with great features. Too bad you have to buy a new one every year.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Fun and Shows Mass Improvement From Last Year's Game

NCAA Football 08 has improved greatly, finally using next-generation technology to it's advantage. This game features a new gameplay engine and branching animation system which allows for gang tackling and you won't be stuck in an animation and run automatically run out of bounds on a sideline pass to your running back.

Another great feature is the Weather Channel. What, the Weather Channel? Yep, every game will start with the exact weather conditions at the exact moment you are playing wherever you are playing! Extreme heat in Arizona? Your game will depict that. Hurricane close to Gainesville, Florida? "The Swamp" of Florida Gators football is where to be.

One disappointment for the PS3 version of this game is that it runs at a mere 30 frames per second unlike the Xbox 360 version which runs at 60 frames per second. To help make up for this, there are 115 detailed stadiums, up from 40 in last year's game, NCAA Football 07. Campus Legend mode is back and you are able to take your player from Campus Legend mode and import him into Madden 08's Superstar Mode. Lastly, this game allows you to create highlights from your games and submit them to http://www.easportsworld.com/ and share them with others online.

This game is a must buy if you enjoy college football and enjoy playing video games. It is very fun and the online gameplay is great. EA did a wonderful job this year and I don't know if it is possible to improve the game much more!

EA Sports are GREAT Game Makers

This game is similar to the Madden series of games. You pick which team you would like to play for with all of the college teams available. You work your way from just getting onto the team until you start getting recognized from scouts to draft you into the Big Time. You can also use your created player and import him into the Madden football game as well. The game play is fairly easy, you work on your skills, the better you get. Go from a new player until you are the main attraction that everyone will want out of college. Very good game, would recommend it to anyone. Hope this review helps.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

TOUCHDOWN! Great NextGen Football Game

This is one of my favorite games to get every year because it marks the first new football release of the season. This is the first NextGen football game I played on the PS3 and it does not let me down!

The good: Graphics are solid and look great-if I had an HD TV they would probably be better (I guess they set the output at 720 and not 1080 so its not a crisp as madden will be) Seems like the player controls are better and they move more where you want them to go. The Dynasty mode is better, signing prospects is much more detailed and more interactive. You can save replays and pictures of games which is a neat new feature. I thought the kicking function was better and more sensitive which it should be.

The flaws: I didn't see Create-A-School or Create A Uniform which was cool for the Dynasty mode. Some player movements may not be as responsive as in years past. Like if you press triangle to intercept a pass on Defense, seems like it takes a split second for the defender to jump. Switching players on Defense before the snap seemed a little slow to me as well. Maybe its just the players I have, but seems like the hit-stick takes a while to unleash on someone. Thought the crowd could have had more detail in the stands during gameplay. Not sure about on-line or some of the other modes because I mainly play the Dynasty mode.

Should I buy this game?
Again, it depends on your budget for games. If you have $60 to blow you should get this game. If you are on a tight budget for games, maybe wait until Madden comes out next month. Getting this game will help you tune up for Madden, so you should get this game if you want to become an ace at Madden next month.

Overall: A-
It would be an A+ if it had Create-A-School and if the controls were just a bit tighter on the defensive side as I remember them being on the PS2 versions. This game is not perfect but it is as fun as the other titles and the dynasty mode is as deep as ever.

Check out my other reviews as I will review every PS3 game I buy.

Unleash your PS3 with some Great Action!!

It appears that EA got it right this year with NCAA (And Madden 08 from what people are saying that have seen it).

The game play is smoother this year, with new tackle features such as air born collisions, new offensive blocking moves, defensive moves, and a load of other game play features and trick plays.

Where EA has got it right is expanded on the other game modes such as they dynasty mode, where you can scout players by attending their high school games, as well as play your games online (A feature available before, but enhanced). If you like the extras that come with previous versions of this game, you will love these extras because they are better than ever.

Give this game a shot, and if you don't like it you can always trade it in for Madden in a month, but I am betting you will like it enough to keep it around for a while!

Decent but have seen better

Good game for the casual football gamer but I think the madden series blows this one away. I do enjoy NCAA football and this game does bring it all to life on the console except for not staying true to players names. I know you can't use college players names but it would be cool to at least have some initials.Vollständige Rezension lesen...
