Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation (DVD, 1962)

The Griswolds in 1962?

This isn't NATIONAL LAMPOON's VACATION...or is it? There's no crude language. and nobody dies, but this film could be a 1962 prequel to the Griswold franchise. Mr. Hobbs takes his wife, preteen son, and 14-year-old daughter to the beach. His two married daughters show up with their husbands and kids, and soon everything goes horribly wrong. Mr. Hobbs asks if anyone wants to get some "Sun on the beach," and the cook quits, thinking he's cursing at her. A handyman insists on shaking hands immediately after cleaning a cesspool. A blonde neighbor in a tight swimsuit tries to get friendly with Mr. Hobbs AND his son-in-law. The adult situations are implied, not explicit, so this film is appropriate for all ages. . Perfect name for this movie - Jimmy Stewart is always entertaining.

We had this DVD for a long time and then couldn't find it! It has always been a favorite so was happy to find another one. Thanks for sending it quickly and it is in perfect, new condition.

Great film about an old family man

You have to be of a certain age to enjoy this film. I was board as a young man until I had kids of various ages up to adult. Then I got it! It’s funny in a light gentle way.

Funny, engaginf family humour

This is classic Jimmy Stewart. Funny, engaging and coming from the real world unlike a lot of the over the top comedy today. Highly recommend for the whole family except maybe the 'Goth' types.

One of my very favorite movies since I was a little girl. I do wish I'd waited and looked for full screen instead of widescreen.....but still love it.

Excellent movie

It has laugh in the light of having problems and it does not require bad language which is now a major problems in movies today
