Monogram 5703 1:72 B-36 Peacemaker Model Kit

B- 36

I purchased this model of a standard B-36 so that I can convert it into a HB-36D, the test bed for the never built X-6 thermal nuclear powered bomber that the USAF was researching in the 1950s. And that is a good thing, because the kit that I bought has serious flaws in the casting,m especially in the nose section of the fuselage. As it happens, I will be removing that part of the fuselage and replacing it with a conversion kit as soon as they become available..

If I were just going to assemble this kit as, I would be facing serious difficulties,

Biggest Bomber

I built one of these models about 20 years ago and found it very enlightening. Even though it is the biggest model aircraft made, some parts are very small. Painting details on a 3/8" pilot is challenging. I enjoyed it then, and expect to enjoy it now.Vollständige Rezension lesen

B-36 PEACEMAKER MONOGRAM

If you want a James Stewart replica of his B-36 you got one. Slight modification of decals 5736 1/48 decals numbers smaller UNITED STATES AIR FORCE. Some sanding is required for seams. Remember start 100 sandpaper and go thru 180, 240, 400, 800,1200, 2400, finish off 3600. This will iliminate scratches when spraying Silver over all. Nose wheel and main landing gear doors are Gloss White. I striped (red stripes) with using 3/32 stripes and decale set. (LIQUID). Since overall size of this plane it becomes a hanging model or do what I did built a base, simulated tarmac, and cover with homemade plexy glass . It's a large display but everyone wants to take it home. I placed a pilot (James Stuart) and crew chief (Henry Morgan) walking towards the aircraft. this represents a great piece of history

first of all the reason I marked it's not durable is because it is a model and they are delicate and have to be handled with care , but models are important they help teach one to understand the fundamentals of an aircraft or car or anything it is very education plus usually when someone is building a model I know when I was a kid and even as an adult right now you look for the history of that particular model that you are building what it means and everything about it , but this bomber is part of our history and that's important I think more kids should put down the video games and go back to learning building models like we did when we kidsVollständige Rezension lesen

Truth was not told about this kit

It was claimed this kit was sealed in the box. It arrived with shrink wrap around it, not vacuum sealed original plastic wrap. Half of the sealed plastic parts bags were not on the parts. Despite this, I did not notice any parts missing despite the fact I have yet to put this kit together.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Peacemaker

Outer wrap torn, figures broken from sprue, one propeller blade broken. Kit is buildable.
