Wax Time all the time!!!

This is a review of the Wax Time pressing, this album should need no new reviews by this point in music history....these Wax Time reissues get slagged off on the audiophile forums viz: "they are just CDs on vinyl" well...as a long time hi fi enthusiast and all around swell guy, I would like to add something to that verdict: " CDs pressed on the flattest, thickest, QUIETEST vinyl available!" Quite seriously, I have a vintage early Blue Note pressing of this LP, and a recent Blue Note "audiophile" reissue that cost 4 times what this pressing cost. Guess what? The early Blue Note sounds GREAT...now try to find a NM or EX copy for less than four figures. The recent Blue Note reissue sounds dim, noisy (even after cleaning with my Opera Consonance record machine) and altogether awful. A local record store was closing out some of these Wax Time pressings, and I picked up a few to give as gifts for some newbies to turntables and vinyl...could not resist opening the copy of this LP to compare to my other copies...its FLAT, WELL CENTERED, QUIET, and whoever mastered this, even if it was from a redbook CD, knew how to do vinyl mastering...after being so disappointed with so many modern pressings, some with "audiophile" price tags, I was stunned...went out and tried a few other period LPs pressed on this label, to see if maybe this copy was a fluke...nope, these are consistantly high quality throughout the range. I am buying pretty much everything they put out, and these are now my go-to copies for listening time. Depending on which turntable I am using, they are being played either with an Ortofon Bronze or Hana MC Shibata cart...at some point people will wake up to these pressings and they will be sought after once you can't get them anymore, especially at the prices they go for now. Wax Time Release....No Worries!

180 gm. just feel good. surfaces are very quiet. Slight loss of fidelity compared to domestic pressings.
