The Planes That Sank the Prince of Wales and Repulse

When one thinks of twin engined Japanese bombers at the start of World War II the first that comes to mind is the famous Betty bomber. But in the early stages of the war a very important twin engined Japanese bomber was the Mitsubishi G3M “Nell”, which was an important component of Japanese efforts in the early Sino-Japanese conflict and perhaps had its greatest fame in sinking the HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse in the Java Sea in December 1941.
While somewhat outdated even at the start of the war, the G3M, also known as the Type 96 Rikko was an important part of Japan’s war effort and finished out the conflict in an auxiliary role as a reconnaissance aircraft. This 60 page work provides a tight but comprehensive text and plenty of black and white photographs, drawings illustrating the camouflage patterns, charts showing the units which flew the G3M, and specifications for the aircraft. A nice compliment to the much smaller Profile publication but lacking color illustrations or profiles.
