Put that Surface Connect port to good use!
Having purchased a refurbished Surface Book 2 about a year ago, I soon realised that it was short of ports, indeed with just the one USB-C port. The USB-A ports that it does have, do not supply much in the way of power, so devices take an age to charge. What it does have is a Surface Connect port, which I could only use to connect the power supply unit that came with it. I decided a while back that I could connect a Microsoft Surface Dock to Surface Connect port, to give me a usable number of extra ports, but unfortunately, no USB-C ports, which are essential these days. The later Surface Dock 2 looked a better option since it provided 4 USB-C ports, two of which were capable of supporting an external monitor, with the right cabling. The supplied PSU also provided a healthy 199 W of which 120 W are available as power pass-through. The even later Surface Thunderbolt™ 4 Dock wasn't really an option, since it would require the Surface Book 2's only USB-C port, making the Surface Connect port, redundant!
The list price of the Surface Dock 2 was a concern, but the one that I purchased, new, boxed but reported unused, seemed to fit the bill being, well discounted on the new price. It also had nearly a month left of the original guarantee, as I found when I registered the device under my Microsoft account! No real concerns there given the Microsoft build quality, since this is a pretty solid piece of kit!
The best part is that this was one of very few items that I have purchased which was immediately pressed into service, and so far, it has done everything I expected.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Solid, not cheap but does the job
A tad expensive but worth it if you are using higher resolution monitors. Took a short while to update firmware that sorted some initial issues out.

Great little dock
Very compact but all the ports you need. It’s nice being able to connect the surface with a single cable without tying up the USB port
