okay guide

One of the most anticipated titles in PlayStation2 history absolutely lives up to the hype. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is the follow-up to one of the most captivating and intelligent adventures on the original PlayStation. Solid Snake, everyone's favorite mullet-sporting supersoldier, is back, along with many other familiar faces and voices. While its predecessor was lauded for telling a complex story, this sequel has even more fascinating twists and turns. Also, like Metal Gear Solid, MGS2 takes console-game storytelling to an entirely new level with stunning in-game movies, great graphics, and game mechanics that let you find your own solutions to challenges. The game's twisting and at times bizarre plot will undoubtedly keep some gamers perplexed.
Konami has replaced the moronic enemies from the first MGS with more cerebral and capable foes; this causes an even greater emphasis on stealth than the original. The controls have been refined and Snake's repertoire of moves has grown, significantly deepening the gameplay. This is, technically and stylistically, one of the best-looking PS2 games on the market. The sound is also topnotch, with a fabulous score and outstanding voice acting. What makes this game such a standout, however, is how all of these sight, sound, and story elements combine to immerse the player into an entertainment form somewhere between movie and game. It will be years before Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is surpassed. This is interactive entertainment at its finest.

Best Verstion of MGS 1

I'm a total MGS fan so don't take this review too credibly as it will come out biased. If I was a really critical reviewer, this game would get 4/5. But to me, to do that do an MGS game is to commit hari kari, and honorable as that may be, I'm not willing to soemthing of the like.

Anywho, onto reviewing.

This is the best version of MGS, much better than PS 1 version, Japanese integral version and even better than the Gamecube version (MGS: Twin Snakes), and I say this without much hesitation.

First off, the PC version comes off with not just the original game but also VR Missions. And unlike the Playstation version of VR Missions, all 300 VR missions are already all unlocked so you can choose which one you like and play them. The missions range from mystery missions (where you try to figure out who is the murderer with use of logic) to ninja missions (finally a slice-and-slash style gampay from MGS) to special missions where you have to sneak up on a 9 feet guard with nothing but a cardboard box.

The graphics are enhanced as well and though it's still just polygons, it's better than any Playstation game. I wish MGS2: Sons of Liberty/Substance used footages of this version instead of the playstation in its flashback cinametics.

I was introduced to MGS with this PC version and I'm glad I was. The keyboard control may be awkward at first but eventually it makes the game indcredibly easy and exciting and totally fit for stealth action. The fact that each number button is a different weapon (1 for SOCOM, 2 for FAMAS assault rifle, etc) makes this game faster paced than the playstation version. Of course, if you just can't get used to the keyboard (shame on you, jk) then a controller works real fine as well esp. since every button role is customizable.

Also new on the PC version is now you can kind of aim in first-person. You have to tap the first-person view button twice and you'll go int fp mode. In fact, you could even walk around in this mode even though doing so ends up detrimental to being stealthy.

The gameplay is amazing, as good as, if not better than on Playstation. You can save at any time during the game and load any game you want at any moment with no load time at all. It's incredible.

And everything else, it's game heaven. The music is really good especially since it blends into what situation you're in. If you're being stealthy, the music is just bass and drums and suspenseful. If discovered the music changes to fast-paced action music that makes you itch to fire off your rocket launcher. Then when the guards are suspicious of your presence the music dwindles down but faster than normal stealth music. The voice-overs are still what I consider the best in this game, unprecedented by any game in history, even its MGS superiors.

And then... the story. My God, the story. If you don't know the story of MGS then you absolutely need to. INstead of spending outrageous $8 for a three-hour movie in the theaters, go for this game instead. It's like a game and a movie all in one and it's a movie/game that will leave you breathless and begging for more.

A Great Playstation 1 Port To The PC!

This is still a great game from the PlayStation 1 days! You can raise the resolution! Also the graphics, sound, and game play are just as great as well! The game lets you immerse as Snake, a clone of the original hero turned villain Big Boss, who must defeat his evil brother and stop nuclear war. The story is excellent. It never gets boring. You get a whole understanding for the character your playing as.

The cool thing is you get to play the original and also the VR Missions. Hours of game play and variable difficulty from very easy to very hard. The VR missions lets you play up to 300 training missions and a few would let you play as the Cyber Ninja!

Must have for Metal Gear Solid fans and Action gamers a like!

Great Game, but don't buy Metal Gear Solid (the 1st one

I played the first Metal Gear Solid game on PC, therefore I buy this game. The first one is a great game, however it froze at the end of the game. There's a bug that cause the game to froze. Therefore I buy the second game. The second game is great. But make sure your computer have enough processing power. So you can really enjoy the graphic it provides.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Metal Gear Solid Rules

Metal Gear Solid 2 rules. Konami has down it again. It has some of the same classic characters like Snake, Otacon, and Shalashaska(Ocelot Revolver). My only complaint is that you have to play half of the game as Jack Raiden. He looks just like a girl. I will always prefer Snake over the new guy... or girl, whatever Raiden is. I don't think this game is as long as the other one, but its still long. I am a hardcore gamer, and can usually beat a game within 3 days to 2 weeks. This game took me a little under a month. This game is cool but I prefer the first MGS, reguardless to its animation and graphics. Still this game is right up there with SOCOM, Halo, and Star Wars KOTOR. I wish they would make movie about MGS. And a reminder to all fans of mgs, MGS3 Snake Eater is coming out this fall.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

MGS 2: Substance

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance is one of the best in the MGS series. It plays great on all platforms (PS2 and PC DVD-Rom). The story is as interesting as the rest of the MGS games. Totally recommended for action games enthusiasts.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Sold a faulty cd/video game

I have been looking for this video game on pc for a while, which is why I bought it on instinct. I have now installed and tried this video game on 3 different computers (1 laptop and 2 desktops), and the game crashes every time it is installed and I cannot even play/start the game. It is pretty disappointing as the seller did not mention this before the auction, more less even putting a faulty game up for sale.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance

Does not even work on Windows 7 or Vista and I know there are difficulties on the XP version. Plain and simple it's like impossible to play it on any current operating system. Microsoft or Konami must release a patch for it to work on Windows 7.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

The Best

This game always keeps you on your toes. Thinking is part of the game. Metal Gear is the best in Stealth and Espionage.
