Megadeth’s greatest line up produce one of metal greatest album of all time

Megadeth undoubtedly at their utmost best!

Throughout Megadeths history there has been many a debate over their perhaps second, or third greatest album ever; with certain people seeming to like certain albums better, while some dislike others.
The debate over their greatest album EVER though, always seems to draw only one winner.
That winner is Countdown To Extinction.

From the first track, skin o' my teeth, right through to sweating bullets, to high speed dirt and to captive honour, the album never seems to let up; with the classic Mustaine lyrics and Friedmans riffs never stopping short, drawing in all to one absolutely astonishing masterpiece.

The bonus tracks on the re-mastered album are not anything to be concerned over; a couple of demos and a fairly reasonable unreleased track, yet the original 11 tracks, seem to never disappoint.
Excluding the fairly average bonus tracks, the only other low I can really think of is in track 11, Ashes in your mouth, where I feel the song fails to really live up to the other previous 10 tracks; however from the album, one fair track does not in anyway tarnish the other 10 tracks off pure genius.

Moving on to the highs of the album, its more a case of where to start then where to look.
In all honesty I cannot personally pick one spot in the first 10 tracks that I would want to be changed, or in any way altered, to try and create a better album. The riffs are heavy, surprisingly catchy, while the lyrics seem to layer perfectly over the song, with Mustaines classic 'sneering' voice never failing to fit well into the song.

Though I could go on, I feel that I shouldn’t, as its something that one must really experience to fully grasp how amazing this album really is. For Megadeth fans; or for rock fans of all sorts, this is one album that you don't want to miss out on.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

A great album improved.

Having previously owned this album on cassette when it first came out,I bought this album on cd to update my collection and to put onto my mp3 easily.
The origional album was an instant classic,but with the addition of the bonus demo tracks it is now even better.It gives the listener an insight into how certain tracks grew into the final versions that appeared on the origional album.What is most noticable on the demo's is Dave Mustane's quite different sound on the lyric's which is not always better but you can see he was experimenting.To sum up this album is a must have for any Megadeth fan aven if you still have the original version in youre collection.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

great Album..

great album.First heard it when it came out and didn't get it for some reason.Glad I have now.Usual paranoid stuff from Dave with the usual venom and wit.I get a bit tired of the comparisons with Metalica.Both great bands in their own right who don't need to be banded together just because Dave Mustaine was once in the other band.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

If like me you know the original version intimately - then this remastered version will make you wonder what on earth Dave Mustaine was on when he started tampering with the 1991 version!
