Marilion Script For A Jester's Tear
The debut album for Marillion, while having lofty musical ambitions, gets its indelible charm from its naivety. Its heavy influence by Genesis is obvious, not least in the vocals of frontman Fish.
Almost every song is imperfect in some way, but all have redeeming features to make up for it. Fish's lyrics vary from schoolboy angst poetry (especially in the title track) to ligthhearted mockery ("Garden Party") to frankly disturbing ("He Knows You Know"). Perhaps the lowlight is in the otherwise powerful "Forgotten Sons" in which Fish reels of a parody of the Lord's Prayer.
Thinking about techy based music and full of electronic tendencies nowadays, It is clear that Marillion achieved many in those days..A Classic from Marillion..Vollständige Rezension lesen...
marillion cd
script for a jester's tear is an unbelievably good album made by marillion in the early 1980's this took me back to my youth a must for all marillion fans old and new...........
Script for a Jesters tear
A great album that reminds me of being 18. Ignore the prog rock comparisons as I dont believe them to be true and enjoy the guitar work and great production. Masterful and crazy lyrics sung by Fish, make this album a classic.Vollständige Rezension lesen...
An emotive title
Some said, back then, that Marillion were the new Genesis. Well, not quite. Genesis were brilliant, but Marillion captivated their own niche in the rock world and rightly so. This was and still is an excellent first entry album from a superb band.Vollständige Rezension lesen...
