A REASONABLE PRICE RECEIVER WITH FREE TRAFFIC/MAP UPDATE !

I have owned dozen of different brands of the GPS devices over a few years such as Tom tom,Garmin nuvi and Magellan gps receiver.Firstable,I love the life-time map&traffic easy update of the Magellan 5120-LMTX . No matter you're purchasing a brand new device,a refurbished device or used. Just plug the unit in your computer and go to Magellan's update web site to register your unit's model number,serial numbers and the date of purchased.You may enter any purchase date you want but the unit's model no. and serial no. must be the right one in order to register for the update the latest traffic,map and the device firmwares.Some users complained of troublesome in the map updates because they would have made mistakes in typo regarding to the device's model/serial numbers.Once you have entered and sent the wrong or missing serial numbers to Magellan server,problems would arise in serials so be careful. I like the large 5" Touch Screen allows easy viewing of your maps while driving,that makes it easy for the seniors but there's draw-back that I give it four-star because it's unlike the Garmin nuvi 1490T 's best screen that can resist to the bright and glares of the sunshine that has no problem to operate the unit under the direct sunshine and the Magellan 5120 User wouldn't have any luck under this condition.Moreover,the GPS receiver to sky satellite's not very precised. In test,the receiver is always about 25 yards behind the position. Only if the orientation can be changed, would I would recommend this unit.

I had another GPS which I really liked but it died and this one was available and reasonably priced. There are several pros to this unit: 1) the display is large and easy to read, 2) once you get use to its processing, the unit is easy to use, and 3) the lifetime maps and traffic alerts are priceless. My major con is that the display does not re-orient to the top position as you turn. The first time I noticed it, the travel arrow was heading downward as we were traveling. Good unit BUT depends on what you qupay esfor it.

Good unit. LOUD but you get one voice/ can't change it. Fairly intuitive. Screen takes more pressure to work than some others you may come across.
Might take awhile to learn your neighborhood. Took a few minutes 1st time I fired it up to acquire my satellites. ( it was a used unit from New Mexico.)
It announces you 2 miles out. Then twice more at .5 mile and at turn. POI database is pretty up to date.
Like I said, it depends on what you get one for. Mine used. 99 cent plus 5 bux ship. It works. Battery charges.I haven"t updated it yet. Will report back after I do that.

Stops working abruptly. Requires re-starting.

Item advertised as “refurbished” which is untrue. Maps have never been updated, battery life is less than 3 minutes, and mounting bracket does not stick to windshield .

Many features for the price and with lifetime maps and traffic....perfect!

Bought this at COSTCO after searching high and low for one with lifetime maps and lifetime traffic. Larger size and display is nice without being too bulky. I like the highway lane assist feature that tells you which lane to get into before you come up on a decision point. This unit is easy to search points of interest. Lower left side of screen has several features you can flip back and forth such as elevation, ETA and MPH. No glare issues for me.

Will probably consider getting a vent mount or weighted dash top mount since windshield mount puts GPS just out of reach due to steep angle of windshield in my car.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Great bargain for a great GPS unit.

If you're like me and you never read instruction manuals, this is the perfect GPS because it's so simple to use that you'll never have to refer to them. I figured the whole thing out while driving (which is a big no-no, I understand that). The only thing annoying about it is the interface between it and the windshield mount. There are two things that must happen for this to be connected to the mount properly: 1) a female slide receptacle on the unit must mate with a male piece on the mount (the easy part, just like with people), and 2) the female USB port on the GPS must mate with the male USB plug on the mount - that's the difficult part. Great display, accurate directions, lifetime maps, awesome price!

It was going to cost as much as new GPS to update the maps in my Garmin so I bought this due to the lifetime maps and I'm really happy I did. The display is larger and very sharp. It is so much easier to see road names on adjacent and upcoming roads. Just for fun we put the same destination on the two units and were surprised when the Garmin said we had arrived but the destination was about 1/4 mile down the road. It's a restaurant that has been in DesMoines for many years. It also has traffic updates. This feature is new to us but we discovered it was working when it picked a different route (that we ignored) than the Garmin only to find road construction slowing down traffic. The one feature I do miss is the speed limit display. It seems that someone is trying to save money in Iowa by not buying very many speed limit signs. Magellan GPS is all I use

It puts multiple destinations I have to go to in order. It has a loud speaker and gives me a warning well in advance to make turns.
