Immerse yourself as a young Link just starting out in Kokiri Forest, where you have to find your first weapon and embark on your timeless journey. 100% all across the board, gameplay, story/plot, controls, replay value, etc. If your unfamiliar with the Zelda game series, this is a great place to start. With a wide variety of weapons, armor, enemies, and well executed boss battles this game, it’s sure to be a hit for gamers of all ages. I definitely recommend playing if you haven’t already, or revisiting an old classic. The best installment of the best game series of all time

Action, adventure, puzzles. Swords and monsters and adorable cuteness. The Zelda series was "sandbox" style gaming long before GTA. Filled with Day of the Tentacle like puzzles to figure out. Go straight to your mission, or wander and explore. Upgrade your character, find secrets, fight skeletons, make friends, help people, figure out what that stuff you collected earlier is actually useful for. Everything is there for a reason, but that reason is usually not obvious. Save at anytime, so you can play a little at a time (though its hard not to keep playing until its late at night).
Very long - just when you think you have basically beat it, it turns out all that was just the preliminary introduction, and its really barely begun.

This is the only game I've finished 100%, and then played again from the beginning. This time around is my 4th run through. N64 can't compete with the graphics of a xbox360 or playstation 3 or even a Wii, but no other console has a game this much fun. For all ages. For all types of people, even! The only game I ever got my ex-wife to get into. My mom enjoyed Zelda. Gamers and non-gamers alike.

Unsurpassed masterpiece, even today.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time debuted in 1998 and was immediately heralded as one of the greatest games of its time. 14 years have passed since, and Ocarina's status has only risen. It is considered the Benchmark of the Zelda series, to which all games since have been compared. While Mario 64 was Nintendo's first fully 3D game, Ocarina (released two years later) perfected the gameplay mechanics Mario 64 introduced, while simultaneously superseding it in terms of new gameplay concepts, story, level design, and atmosphere.

There are many versions of Ocarina available to purchase. The original Japanese release, packaged in a monochromatic box. The original US release was dubbed the Collector's Edition and was only available to those who preordered the game. The Collector's Edition box is gold with holographing rays emanating from the Zelda logo, "Collector's Edition" displayed near the bottom, and the cartridge inside is metallic gold. The standard release had a similar box, sans holographic rays, and the cartridge inside is grey. There was also a re-release of the game in 1999 as the Game of the Year, with artwork describing thus. The PAL version of the game came with black/gold cover artwork. Ocarina of Time was later released on the Nintendo Gamecube as Ocarina of Time: Master Quest, with more difficult dungeons, and later still completely redone in 3D and released to the Nintendo 3DS as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.

Ocarina of Time, in any of its incarnations, is a must-own game. If you only play one video game in your life, Ocarina should be that game.

Again and again over 12 years this game has been voted number 1 game ever.

Since Next Generation Magazine issued a poll of the top 10 best video games, there have been 43 simular polls in 34 different magazines from 1999 to 2010. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has been ranked in the top 3 spots for best video game going against 16 other gaming systems, and has held its rank 53% of the time for 12 years. Ocarina of Time's placing averages it as number 1 overall, far outdoing Super Mario 64 which ranked 2nd place. The total repeats throughout the top 10 video games of all time polls show as following Mario in 2nd place having showed up in 26/43 top 10 polls while Ocarina holds a staggering 1st in 32/43 top ten polls. The fact that this game is in that many top 10 and is in the top 3 in 53% of all the polls is all you need to know about this game, obviously according to 43 polls for over 12 years gamers again and again pick this as the best, having showed up in 74% of the total polls. Nintendo also has made remakes of Ocarina of Time, they formatted the original Nintendo 64 game to other systems such as the Game Cube, Wii, Nintendo DS, and more recently there is talk about remaking the game and doing an overhaul on the graphics, not the storyline nor the interface. Why? Because Game sells as of 2011 are the lowest in history and Nintendo as a company who is professional at selling games, having done so for over 20 years, knows that this game they have made gave them the most sells for the Nintendo 64, and boosted sells when they brought it back on other systems. The guys at Nintendo are definately not dumb and know that if they supply the gamers with this again, the demand will go up again. I personally rate this as well as many others who voiced their opinions in the polls as number 1. And after reading the information alone there is no need to read another review, the polls and nintendo's desicions as a company allready show the worth of this single game. Buy it, play it, and never sell it, the value will only go up and this game is allready a classic. I have never met a person who hasn't had this in their top 10, once you play it, you will agree as well, they just don't make games like this anymore...untill Nintendo remakes it. It may have old graphics that newew generations would dub "lame", however, the gameplay and storyline make up for the graphics which aren't that bad anyways. This game with it's puzzles will keep you on your feet, if not on the computer searching for a walkthrough, nothing comes close and never will the music is absolutely amazing as well, the only con I can ever think of with this game is Navi, and if you have played or will play this game, you will want to kill her after the first 30 seconds. Besides that, you will never be disapointed by this game, I've beaten it 3 times and still play it every once and a while, but don't take my word for it, see for yourself.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

A Review of OOT

The may like of this game is that ur surrounded with suffering enemies to demolish and kill . The bosses are way insane , puzzling , consuming to beat , even if you had weapons . It will still be tough to beat for your first time if you are a beginner like me . The weapons are so particular triumphant of the defense abilites and the sword just has a way of fighting in most games the controlling will give you a hard time . but this one is a definately one to take . but let's pass all of that mysterious mistake liking about the game . Let's talk about the story that I love most of all . It starts out when link rides a callous horse and the introduction begins as the deku tree talking about this legendnary boy that will become fierce , dull , and have a loving relationship with Hyrule . And about how he will basket the evil and turn it against the light of the hyrule world . Then link has a ordinary vision what he might meet in the future . After that it is time that the great fairy meet's you . She makes you feel like a retard and so self amused when it comes to Hyrule . but once for all u just fight , talk to strange town's folk , beat brutal bosses , carrie out the legendnary blade and be mature and grown up . And so many thing's I must'ent tell you unless you buy this game for a reasonable price! I love this game , and I do not be threatened who buy's this game . It's one of the best you will play till ur 39 years old or just play it if u get bored of your sports , music , movies , books , school work , or ya whatever! The only thing this game turned me down is pretty much nothing . this game is worth a 10.0 in ign , gamespot , or other reviewing website . It will never beat the old super mario bros . but give it a shot! I know you will like it in fact once you come to the last resolving end . Ganondorf wil be the toughest boss u ever fought and the music is glorious too . So buy this game if this is sold out , then better luck next time . There's alway's more to come!Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (One of the best N64 games)

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 64 game console is one of the best, if not THE best RPG ever made for the system. I consider myself to be an extremely avid Nintendo gamer, but this game challenged me more than any other I had ever played. The length of the game is almost unsurpassed, seeing as how so many games today can be played through in a day or two. It has all the elements of a Zelda game we have come to know and enjoy, like the weapons ranging from the Kokiri sword (and eventually obtaining the Master Sword), bombs, bow and arrows, grappling hook, and many more. This is also the first game in the line where you get to ride horseback, on your trusty horse Epona. Starting off you play as a young Link, who was taken in by the Kokiri forest natives and raised as one of their own. As you progress through the game towards the ultimate goal of Defeating Ganon and his minions and stopping them from taking over all of Hyrule, you eventually open the Temple of Time and retrieve the Master Sword. When that happens you are taken 7 years into the future and reappear there as the more commonly known "adult" Link. You must travel to all of the spirit temples scattered all around the land of Hyrule and retrieve all the sage stones to reawaken the power of the sages to help you defeat Ganon. Ocarina of Time provides countless hours of exciting entertainment, and it's one of those games where you'll want to play it again after you beat it, and not throw it under the bed or somewhere else never to be played again. If you're willing to forgive some age, Ocarina of Time will delight.

When it first released in 1998, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time joined Super Mario 64 as one of the most revolutionary video games of all time. It isn't hyperbole to say that this game set the tenor for how action and adventure games would play for years to come.

Back then, the game was stunningly beautiful, with massive scope, intricate details and some of the most difficult dungeons the series had ever had. It was one of the N64's killer apps, and made a strong case for owning the console.

Now, in 2014, it's a little harder to see why this game was so influential and highly regarded. The graphics have aged very poorly, the revolutionary targeting system that changed the entire genre is a little wonky, and doesn't always follow your commands, and the game's wide overworld feels incredibly sparse.

Still, it's hard to argue against the core swordplay and dungeon crawling in Ocarina of Time. There are some puzzles and encounters that will still challenge even Zelda veterans today. There's still a ton of content here to have fun with.

Some of Ocarina's elements have aged, but that's pretty much par for the course with early 3D era video games. Nearly any game you pick up from the N64 and PS1 era is going to seem silly in retrospect at times. Still, this game and many others of its time are classics, and will still entertain today.

One of the best games of all time. Absolute MUST-PLAY.

There just aren't sufficient words in the English language to correctly express the reaction this game caused within me and millions of people around the world. This game was pure beauty when it was released. It built on everything Mario 64 revealed, and upped the quality 500 times, bringing the true spirit of Zelda into the experience.

This game was absolutely gorgeous. The music was amazing, despite the obviously crappy MIDI instruments, the dialog was simple yet effective, the game play was revolutionary and ridiculously fun to play with, the world was wonderful and remains awe-inspiring to this day...

...but the GRAPHICS. This was a huge step forward for gaming, even on top of the others that had already come out on the Saturn or Playstation. While it had no CG cutscenes, it was all about the gorgeousness of the in-game graphics. Not just the quality of the graphics themselves, but the presentation that took gaming to a whole new level. All games that try to evoke a reaction from the gamer along the lines of "wow, that looks amazing" has followed in this game's footsteps, from intricate lighting to dynamic music.

This game is commonly placed near the very top of just about every single "Best Video Game Ever" list, and even though this isn't my favorite game or even my favorite Zelda, there is a VERY good reason for the legendary status this game holds in the minds and hearts of the gaming community. If you have not played this, YOU NEED TO PLAY THIS.

Sure, today the graphics are clearly dated, but this is such a well designed and developed game that it's still a lot of fun to play even today. You owe it to yourself to go through it at least once in your lifetime. Play the 3DS remake with enhanced graphics and controls, if you really can't handle the aged 64 graphics. You seriously owe it to yourself to play this damn game.

THE BEGINING OF A WHOLE NEW ERA IN GAMING

This was the intoduction of one of the Best and By FAR the only thing that revolutionized RPG gaming and games alike. In this outragious adventure you are a young kid named Link and your out to save the World...well at least the area where you live. Now this is the best thing to hit the N64 console and was remaid for the Gamecube it was so good along with the First 2 ever made on the SNES console and Majoras Mask. Now when you begin to play its hard to learn but when you get used to it its like eating. [Well eating anything] So the controls are easy to learn and its VERY FUN. The only problem is its very addicting![But isnt that what we want?] This is THE BEST game ever in my opinion. After you PLAY AND BEAT this game you should try to play and beat...The Legend of Zelda: Majoras Mask. For it is the continuing adventure of Link and his Horse trying to save the world! [ I wish that they had made a few more for the N64 console and scraped the Windwaker. In my own head this game is a 100/5 way better than this scoring systemVollständige Rezension lesen...

Instant Classic

The Legend of Zelda has been around for a while and all have been great games. Although the story and characters have had their minor changes over the years a lot has stayed the same in the franchise.
With Ocarina of time being the first to bring The Legend of Zelda into the 3D realm they did a great job of adapting the game and story to that style of play. With the new play style that comes with 3D it can make games overwhelming to younger people and cause a lot of problems. Nintendo had all of this worked out greatly though. the games combat puzzles never seemed to overwhelm the player.

Story 9/10
The game had a great story and delivered it perfectly. The games storyline was paced perfectly to allow you to feel accomplished and without dragging you down with too much going on at once. The only reason I do not give it a 10 is just out of originality. The Series storyline as a whole is amazing but The Ocarina of Time shares a lot of details with its predecessors. With good reason of course.

Gameplay 10/10
With the gameplay in Ocarina of time the developers allowed you to feel a sense of purpose with everything you did in the game. The combat in the game was very fine tuned to allow the player to fight smoothly without glitches. The targeting system allowed for some easier play and kept groups of enemies from overwhelming you in combat.
The game also had great puzzles to be solved by the player. The puzzles never got frustrating like some games make them. They made you think about what you were doing but made it fun at the same time.

Sound 10/10
The soundtrack to this game was great. we remember the iconic theme song of course but it goes further with the in game music. Every zone had its unique melody that really fit the mood for the area that it represented. Even after hearing the music through hours of play it never really got old. The boss fights of course had their "Boss" music that really set the mood for the battle.

Visuals 10/10
Being on the N64 and seeing the Zelda series in 3D finally was great. At the time this game was the best looking thing out for the system. All of the textures and shading in this game was great for it to be one of the first of its kind. The lighting that was done in the game was very impressive.

Overall 9.75

If you have never played this game then shame on you. Buy it now and enjoy one of the greatest RPGs made.
