Perfect !
This is the best sized mold for any Pietta .44 cal revolver..454 shoots much more accurate then .451. The .457 is a bit much and will wear out your ram rod pivots after time. Use only pure soft lead. Gives you that nice full round shaved ring of lead when seating. Degrease the new mold with engine degreaser, rinse well, let fully dry, don't bother smoking it never made a difference to me with aluminum molds. Put tiny dab of wax on the sprue cutter hinge, wipe a little wax on the top surface under sprue plate and a touch on the alignment pins being careful to not get any in the cavities, drops perfect balls after 4 or 5 warm up pours every time. Seems like a good deal
After smoking the mold with wooden matches I immediately was casting good balls.
I have never cast anything in my life before this.

Carbon, clean, hot, slide the slag

Lee molds.
I have several Lee molds and they all work very well. With very little warm up and a little patience, you can cast very good bullets and round ball. Highly recommend.

A perfect mold of round balls for my 1860 Army percussion revolver. Casting with virgin lead made swaging the balls during loading a breeze and accuracy was spot on. A great buy and worth every penny!

Do not follow the instructions to smoke the mold,
All that does is make the mold cat undersized and will make wrinkles
in the balls.
