Kolchak: The Night Stalker (DVD, 2005, 3-Disc Set)

Long time fan of this series. Still the stuff of nightmares 5 decades later!

All any fan or inductee to classic tv could want. Seminal seventies series on the supernatural. Great premise, score and locations all cemented by veteran actor Daren Mcgavin. A reporter who is his own worst enemy in his quest for fame, cursed it seems to uncover the world's most important stories only to be shot down like some rogue criminal. But hey...he saved the world, not what he wanted but lets him sleep at night. Most nights anyway. Kolchak is one of the most human characters in fiction. Enjoy, C. Great

Short-lived but wonderful paranormal series. Each episode featured a different monster ranging from vampires to energy eaters. The series brain from the highly rated TV movie The Night Stalker starring Darren McGavin. Scripts are witty, scary and well written. The cast is excellent with well-developed characters the audience can relate to. It's a pity the series only lasted a year. It was a template for others such as X-Files that follow. Kolchak was a forerunner

I remember watching 'Kolchak: The Night Stalker' as a kid and being a little scared and a lot fascinated. Watching the episodes now, some of the stories seem to have been re-worked for X-files and other Sci-Fi/horror shows. There are some surprising guest stars, like Lara Parker, and some before-they-were-famous stars, like Erik Estrada. Great!

This is an old TV show lovers dream. Its a combination of sleuth type of stuff and the monsters. That's the part that really got me, was I enjoy watching this again and again. I can remember watching this as a kid with my father late at night. So I would say this is a good deal. Very Entertaining Episodes

It is a strange show indeed but very entertaining. It's funny too because of Darin McGavin being a bumbling news guy. On a personal note, I was at a bar once with a girl I planned on taking home later. But I left the bar later to go home to watch an episode planning to come back later which I did and planning to take back up with the girl. However she was with another friend of mine when I got back. He took her home instead of me. A few weeks later we learned she was pregnant with his child. Great series resurrected!

Kolchak, the Night Stalker was a totally unique, well written & produced, scary TV series from the late 70's. The mix of humor & suspense is perfect, and the combination of Darrin McGavin & Simon Oakland is wonderful casting! The story lines are unusual, yet often involve familiar horror figures; plot twists make the episodes interesting and unpredictable. I have always loved this show. So glad to finally have it on DVD, and at such a great price too.
