Kicker GR100 10" Round Sub Grille

I just installed this on a Kicker 10" Comp speaker. Installation is pretty simple, just make sure you have the correct screws, the grille comes with a sticker that shows a round head type screw, there is no writing or anything else telling you what is this all about. I went ahead and did some research and found out that the screws recommended should have a round head, the reason being is that there are metal sleeves in each screw hole, if you use the regular type wood screw they can be damaged and detach from the grille. The grille is made out of plastic, the description won't tell you this, it is good quality, but for the price I expected aluminum, it does save on weight because of this. Kicker PVC speaker grills - Awesome Or Not ?

I wanted to give these vrills 4 stars, but ebay's description of "better than expected ". Isn't why I was going to give 4 stars. Yes they fit perfectly, yes they look good, yes they were a good value price wise, but if something fairly heavy hits this. It is definately going to break possibly puncturing the speaker cone with a sharp point. Like if a tool box or a drill in its case with accessories in it, or even your spare tire sliding into it. But let me clarify what I wrote, by saying this. The only reason I gave 4 stars and doubt their ability to protect my subs, is because I have seen the cast aluminum version of these grills. But evidently Kicker no longer makes this model in aluminum, because I hunted high and low for about a month before giving up and buying 3 of these PVC ones. The alumonum grills like this for the L 7 square subs are easy to find but not for the circular subwoofers. So I ended up giving them 5 stars because they are pretty awesome, they just aren't the aluminum ones I originally wanted.Vollständige Rezension lesen

It fits the sub well and looks great. It is made from plastic, so I am hoping it will not break.

weak plastic

these things are supposed to protect your subs; I don't see how because they are so fragile. Go with some metal grilles instead. Way over priced too.
