Took me a bit longer to get into this one, it's even more introspective than her other acoustic albums. Welch's work strongly features that traditional Christian sense of the world as a place of passage. There is hurt, there is drifting through wide-open spaces, there is alienation, but there is never meaninglessness; her vision, though bleak, is at the same time strangely uplifting.
