Golden by Lady a (CD, 2013)

"A winning formula"

Lady Antebellum is one of today's top country recording groups, and their songs reflect the very best of their talents. Lady A has many great songs: Need You Now, Just A Kiss, I Run To You, Hello World, Wanted You More, Downtown, As You Turn Away, American Honey, We Owned The Night, ... whatever you are in the mood for, they have the song to ease your listening time. I really enjoy their ultra-smooth, vibrant, soft country music. It's truly "Country Symphonic" to your tired ears! All three of the members of Lady Antebellum have melodic and pleasing voices that blend and compliment their musicianship. Vocalist Hilary Scott's singing is truly sent from country heaven, ... not to mention the fact that she is just so pure and "yummy" looking! Her vocal stylings blend amazingly well with co-lead Charles Kelley (drums, guitar; brother of Josh). I'm so glad to hear that CK is doing some "solo" work during Lady A's "break" (from Nov. 2015 into 2016). He has all the tools, the "gift", to be a star lead country male vocalist, in my humble opinion; I believe he could be better than most out there today, with the proper exposure. Dave Haywood (guitar, mandolin, piano, backing vocals) is likely the "glue" that holds the Lady A ship together. Outstanding songwriting and instrumental skills, ... the "Quiet One" of the trio. He completes the strong, bonding triangle that makes Lady A. succeed so impressively and effortlessly. "GOLDEN" has yet to reach the platinum status of their earliest hit efforts. One might think that the "shine is off of the apple" for Lady A. I beg to differ. It might not have the 3+ hits of their previous efforts, but it is very listenable and impeccably crafted. They will need to step it up in the future, keep striving for quality sounds, like any popular band today. I'd hate to think that the group "peaked" back in 2010-2011. The Lady A "formula" is alive and well here, and I highly recommend it to casual country fans and "newbies" alike. If you are new to their sound, climb aboard and be a part of their historic ride. Catchy lyrics, quality singing, and competent playing coming from this impressive young trio are what it takes for them to deserve the attention they have already received, and hopefully much more comes their way.
