AD200 is an excellent value cross-platform portable flash-mini studio light. While it may cost similar or less than the top of the line camera brand speedlight, the power output, recycling times and features and far superior. It is basically a next level tool. It is obviously heavier and bigger, but still very much tolerable considering the advantages. No power cables are necessary and it is a fraction of the size of a full studio monolight. While power is lower, it is at least 4 times brighter than a Canon 600EX-RT. This can make a huge difference, and if that is not enough Godox AD-B2 allows doubling the units.
AD200 can be used with all major camera brands with appropriate wireless trigger while retaining full TTL functionality. The flash can be thus shared between different cameras, and like-wise changing camera brands in the future is simply not an issue with this product.
Battery life is exceptional, and it recycles faster than my Canons. I see little point hanging on to otherwise great Canon system and will be adding a couple more AD200s.
The light can take a lot of different dedicated and generic Bowen's mount accessories. They are all highly recommended to make the most of these lights.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Good intermediate electronic flash intermediate between a speedlight and a monolight

This is my second Godox AD200. I have been using my first one for a couple of years and already have most of the heads and light modifiers.
The 200 Ws power rating of this unit is honest, not overinflated like in most of the monolights made in China. The xenon tubes in the speedlight-style head is quite small for a 200 Ws unit and there might be long-term issues with durability, but so far the tubes hold out well with minimal blackening of the glass around the electrodes, and the tubes are not so expensive to replace. There is a newer speedlight-style head with a round window that seems better and uses the same helical tube as the naked-tube head.
Repeatability at a given power setting is good, and TTL exposure works well with Olympus and Sony cameras. My only issue with TTL is that I was never able to make my X1T-S radio master work. My XPro-S and X1T-O radio masters work faultlessly. I was also unable to update the firmware in my X1T-S master on three different Windows 10 machines, so my X1T-S is still just a dud.
There is an AD 200 Pro model, which is supposed to provide a better color temperature control at low power but costs quite a bit more than the AD 200. For my use, I do not notice significant color shifts in real-world conditions.
There are plenty of light modifiers available, all with proprietary attachments and much smaller and lightweight than those typical for studio monolights. This makes an AD 200-based kit much lighter and more easily transported than a typical studio strobe. The 200 Ws power is at the low end of studio monolights (I use units up to 1,500 Ws), but at the high end of speedlights. In fact, I use a speedlight only when I absolutely cannot carry an AD 200 in my backpack (e.g. in carry-on luggage on intercontinental flights), because the AD 200 is otherwise a far better alternative.
As far as I know, there is no battery eliminator for the AD200, and the battery is expensive. These are my only real complaints about the AD200. It would be convenient to power it from mains for studio work, or to be able to use a battery pack that accepts third-party AA or 18650 batteries.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Godox ad200 flash

Bought this flash to add to my growing Godox Nikon Eco system and to use as part of my outdoor set up.
This flash is as every bit as good as all the reviews about it. Its very powerfull as when used indoors i cant really use it above 1/32 of its full power through my softbox which is excellent for instant recycle times and a few thousand pops and hardly putting a dent in battery life.
Its slightly thicker than a standard speedlight and a bit heavier but it does carry its own 14v battery so no need to carry loads of crappy AAs.
The battery charges from completely flat to full power within two and a half hrs timed by myself which is real impressive.
One bad review i read about it was the fact it does not have a hot shoe mount but considering it is an off camera flash this is of no concern as this is not really a standard speedlight but should be thought of more as a portable studio light as it has 200w of power which is about 3 standard gn60 flashlights. This is an immense amount of power from a battery flash.
Very simple to use and set up...when used with my Godox X1 transmitter i can set power levels from my camera which is excellent.
The two interchangable heads well what can i say...what an excellent idea...who ever thought this one up at godox should have been knighted as far as im concearned.
Simply pop off the Fresnel head and pop on the bare bulb for real nice studio style lighting!!...awsome.. Plus i have read theirs a few new heads coming out for it including a ring flash so can wait for that.
This has been my favorite piece of camera equiptment i have ever bought (well apart from my actual camera!!!) and i am bying a second one at the end of the month as im that impressed with it....yeh really!!
This is an excellent speedlight especially for the money as you can have two with the x1 transmitter still for less than the nikon sb910.
Would i reccoment this to anyone??...yeh i already have to all my photography friends... I also impressed my friend with showing its full power and almost burning his retenas out of his eyes 😂😂😂 ...if it got lost or stolen would i buy another??...absolutely 100%

Powerful compact flash with fast recycling

Powerful flash with good battery life both heads work well although not too sure what the weak modelling light is good for, only downside is it's slightly too large to fit my Neewer Bowens S bracket.

Incredible light output for the form factor
