Gift of the Tortoise a Memorable Journey
This album has become an instant favorite in this house. The Journey begins with a Tortoise telling the children about what it is like living in South Africa. I love the fact that she does a fantastic job of ennunciating so it is easy to understand her. The album takes you on a magical journey through many stories and fables of South Africa and is a fantastic introduction to the folklore and song of that region. The artists that come together on this album are some of the most famous from South Africa, and after hearing the album you will know why. Not only is the music and singing superb, but the storytelling creates a magic all it's own. I was thoroughly impressed with this album. The only problem with this album is it's availability. I have been glad to find this music again.
I bought Ladysmith's Gift of the Tortoise to share with my students when we were making art inspired by African stories.
I knew the music from an earlier concert I went to years ago and one of my students had heard it too and remembered some of the words. I knew other students would like this music too!

Not What you might think
If you're looking for a full CD of African music, don't buy this. If you want a child's story teller with a chorus that occasionally chimes in, this is for you. I thought I was getting all music. I plan on giving it to a school.Vollständige Rezension lesen...
