Fender 25 db boost aka Clapton kit.
A great way to add a little power to a stratocaster (or strat style) guitar, if you can't afford to buy the signature or custom shop models. No stranger to this modification as I have been doing it for about 20 years. To my ears the 25 db boost kit gives a better tone with either Lace Sensor pickups (the best) Seymour Duncan classic strat pickups (next best) or Fender Noiseless pickups (last on the list). When doing this modification, "be patient" take your time and don't rush it. My only complaint is that the kit doesn't come with a volume and 2nd tone knob plus mounting screws and s tuds for circuit board. Route for the pc board first and mount that into the body, then route for the battery installation in the back. Once completed a world of difference in tone. Great versatility, it's possible to install without modifications to your guitar's body
The included instructions in B&W aren't very useful but you can find the colored diagram via a Google search.
If you have a normal Strat body you can still install this without any modification to the body:
- the mid-boost circuit will fit at the bottom of the control cavity provided you clip couple of its corners. However you however no longer have clearance for the TBX tone pot, so you can either replace it by a normal 250K pot (or a no-load Fender pot) which is what Clapton himself uses, or you switch the positions of the TBX tone control vs mid-boost pot control.
- the battery is trickier. You can, with proper insulation, fit it in-between the 5-way switch and volume pot. That's a very tight fit though, especially with the board already in the cavity, but it's also very inconvenient to replace the battery. Some have replaced their tremolo block for a much thinner one in order to fit the battery, or removed a few springs to fit it in there; either way the tremolo become unusable. However Fishman makes a 9V battery pack tremolo cover that is perfect for this midboost circuit (and any other active electronics), it's not cheap but it's a direct retrofit for the standard tremolo cover, provides days of playtime, and quickly recharges via USB.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

great kit but guitar needs some bodywork removed
Genuine Fender modification, works just as it should, but my strat needed some router work in order to fit the circuit board, with some conductive shielding paint to coat the new cut out. That said...it is all underneath the pick guard so cannot be seen. Battery fits well into the tremelo pocket on back of strat.

Great Sound
Great Sound! I have a 57/62 pickup set and it doesn´t make any strange noise (just the normal hum) even when it´s full engaged... It´s not necessary any noiseless pickup...

Well-assembled circuit.
All parts were included. Potentiometers are all high-quality. Resistor and capacitor are proper. The graphics for the installation instructions could be better. Color coding would be an improvement. Step by step instructions would be best. P.C. board is sturdy and wiring is soldered with proper solder. This one was for a customer's guitar. May buy one for one of mine. Good Bang for the buck.
Easy to assemble and install. Has a great sound. I have a Strat with Pearly Gates at the bridge and Texas Hot at the neck. Wired the switch to allow neck and bridge to work together then installed this. Real nice unique crunchy sound.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Sweeten My Guitar
I installed it into my guitar and it improved the sound quality. Worked as advertised there are many You-Tube videos on this guitar mod. A good price for a Fender product.
