Oblivion - Best 360 Game to Date

Welcome to another review of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for the Xbox 360. One of the only truly amazing titles exclusive to the 360 and PCs. This game is AMAZING!!! Never have I played an RPG that is free moving that has so many different options in the game. Truly this is the best game currently offered for the 360.

But why?? Why is this game so good??

Well, to begin, you have COMPLETE control over what you want your character to look like. You choose from 7 different races as well as male or female. You can change each and every aspect of your character. Everything from weight, skin tone, scars, hair style, hair color, eye color, facial details, and expression. From there, you get to choose both the birth sign according to the game and the class of your character.

The game has over 300 hours of game play, and thats if you don't die. Besides the main quest, you have 100s of mini quests to complete as you go from town to town. It keeps track of many different skills you increase through the game. Everything from Strength, Aecrobatics, Restoration, Destruction, and Absorbtion to name a few.

You have the ability to mix different potions and poisons out of 100s of different ingredients in the form of Alcamey. There is no limit to what you are able to create if you have the right ingredients. If that wasn't enough, you can also create your own spells as you advice in the world of magic.

There is an arena where you fight over and over again to earn the rank of Grand Champion. A great way to make money and earn experience in the game.

I could go on and on. There is simply no limit to what you are able to do. I have not even scratched the surface here. Just know that if you like RPGs that are very in depth and fun to play, then you HAVE TO BUY THIS GAME.

Do grab the Stategy Guide if you plan to do more than just the main quest in the game. It will blow you away at how thick the guide is when you see it.

this is the best game ever

Awsome game...i couldn't be happier with it..it has such a great story that has lots of twists and turns...and the graphics are unbelieveable...especially the daylight on the water. it is so realistic. and the fighting is very realistic ....don't keep reading this...go out and buy it ...you will not be disappointed in it...it will keep you busy for a very long time. make sure you get Morrowind game of the year edition if you didn't play that before Oblivion...Morrowind seems generic compared to Oblivion.....Bethesda has made the best series of games here with the Elder Scrolls series....Oblivion will knock your socks off...just make sure you have some time to check all the new drivers for your video card ..i've used Forceware Whql,Beta and Ultra, Ngo, Zeropoint, z-tweaked, Dna Force, Xtreme-g. so you really have to see which ones give you the best performance...make sure you use driver cleaner when changing drivers or you can have some very bad side affects..Vollständige Rezension lesen...

a prefect sequel to an original classic

The graphics are much, much better than Morrowind. Sound is just as good as Morrowind and the main theme is a tribute to the Morrowind main theme. There are a lot of voices in this game and it is possible to not have to read any of the conversions and just listen to the NPCs. You can thankfully skip over lines that you don't want to hear if you are a fast reader. Just like Morrowind you can also add new songs to the music folder if you want to use a custom soundtrack. Control is improved. Blocking is so much better that even if you aren't a warrior you can hold your own in melee against the common enemies. The new magic casting does take some getting used to and so does the unified menus. Controls do feel more like a console game and Oblivion's battles are a lot more action based than Morrowind's. As for gameplay, most of the changes are for the better. Enemies level up now so leveling up the wrong skills may get you into trouble at the higher levels but so far it hasn't bothered me. Trading is different and I'm not sure it's improved that much. Lockpicking gives you the option to do a minigame but you can also do it the Morrowind way. Speechcraft is thankfully much more improved. Stealing is also more elaborate. Steal from a store and hang around and the guards will come looking for you even if nobody actually saw you stealing. The missions are now more elaborate and even the most trivial ones may surprise you with some funny, emotional and even sensual topics. Travel is different with no more stilt riders, boats or guild guides. Now you have a horse option and a fast travel option to places you've been to before or major sites you haven't been to yet. All you're old Morrowind tricks like repairing bound armor, shooting arrows while levitating, beating people to a pulp with your bare hands and gaining magicka by fighting your own creatures is still possible. If you liked Morrowind you'll most likely like this one as well. Players who were put off by Morrowind's low level combat should try Oblivion. Players who traditionally don' like deep RPGs should give it a chance. Like hack and slash games? Create a stereotypical warrior and join the fighter’s guild. Like stealth games? Create a stereotypical thief and join the thief’s guild. You may just like it enough to try out new things.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Best RPG Ever Made for a PC

The video quality is based on the grade of video card you have. I have played it on an Nvidia 5600go laptop video card and graphics are ok. It will put a load on a system like that. But if you have say an ATI 2600 or Higher or a Nvidia 6200 or better then the video/graphics are stunning.
With the video demands out of the way you can truly spend hour playing this game. Regular time from start to finish can be 200 hours of game play or more. With the PC version you can use the tilda "~" key to enter the cheat mode screen while in game play. Look to cheat site for the codes to use. This game has more codes than any other game I have ever played.
The difference with the collector's edition from the regular is the bonus material that comes with the game. The making of DVD video, a replica Septim Coin (the coin used in the game), and a nice faux leather bound 112 page book with the back story for the game so as to give the game more depth in fantasy play.

It you are a dungeons & dragons fan or an turn based fantasy role playing game this is the best PC game out there that emulates RPG play with stunning first person or third person views for your choosing. In my opinion this is better that Fable 2 which just came out by hands down.

The best rpg that really isint a real rpg

You can follow the stoy line, or make your own path. You can be the hero or the villian. You can also spend hours just creating your character to your liking with over 50 adjustments you can make to your characters face alone. This is the most impressive graphics, and the cities just keep getting better as you play the game through 9 very different cities and hundreds of other caves, small towns, houses, ruines, and then there is also the oblivion world. You walk through the over two hundred portals to find a different world all together. If you like a suprise on how much time one can spend playing a game for fun, not just to say I beat the game, then this is well worth the money!!!(If you owned Morrowind Elder Scrolls III, youll love this)Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Super awesome game! I prefer it over Skyrim

One of my all time favorite games. Even though your character isn't the main character in the game, it still has an amazing story. The combat system is great in this game, and the graphics have some good detail to them even though this game is fairly old, the main complain is that everyone's faces makes them look like mush. Would definitely recommend.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

The left the source open. Good thinking.

It's hard to imagine playing oblivion at all without it's user created modifications. This game, by itself, is well enough, but where it really shines is the mods that can be found on The Elder Scrolls Nexus and similar sites.

Of the game itself, though, it's kind of empty and bland in between quests. I suppose it's supposed to be that way to simulate real fantasy world travel, but that doesn't help any when it takes me literal hours to walk from one place to the other if I don't use fast travel [WHICH I DO].
Other problems include a menu that was seemingly designed solely for console controllers, Minimal voice acting talent [No mod for this yet], bland weapons and quests [except for a few], and literally ALMOST NO characterization of anyone you meet throughout the entire game. Everyone in this game is so forgettable other than the emporer's son because he's shoved down your throat throughout the entire main quest.

All in all it's worth the money it costs now to buy this game, but I would've never payed $50 for it. Ever. Not without a set of working, game overhauling, non-conflicting mods packaged with it.

Oblivion "Collector's Edition" Review

This was an absolutley amazing purchase. I had already bought this game about a month prior to finding this auction and imediatley picked it up again for the extras offered with the collector's edition.

The Urial Septium Coin - Amazing.
The "Making of" DVD was was entertaining and informitive. A really good Extra.
The Guide to Cyrodil Book was way nicer than I expected. Not only did it tell the game's story well, it also had some really nice artwork to balance it out.

In all I'm extremely satisfied and give this buy a 5 star rating. ThanX Alot.

Overshadowed by WoW

Ok i bought this game the same time i bought wow (world of warcraft) and i must say oblivion is beautiful the graphics are awe inspiring and the game play is pretty smooth. The only problem is as i stated earlier i bought wow to and wow is much more fun and addicting then oblivion. Pros on oblivion ... it is massive the world is huge tons of things to do and a whole lot of quest. Also the graphics are just crazy. Cons on this game... It requires a very good computer to run it nicely.. i miself have about a $1400 comp i built miself and it still chuggs a little at times. Another thing i disliked or havnt gotten used to is the battle style it hard to tell if ur in range of hitting enemys with ur sword or axe. I like this game alot but only when my net is down but if my net is working this game doesnt get alot of playing time. If u got a strong system and dont care for multiplayer online games get oblivion its a great and worth every $Vollständige Rezension lesen...
