Good sound and quality

Like I said great for your bag of tricks.

The best way to describe this pedal is unique. The pedal obviously like all MXR stomp boxes are very rugged. Also it is very simple. 2 knobs an output and blend. The output just controlls the volume. The blend controls the amount mixed between the fuzz-face-esq distortion and the sound of 2 octaves below the note played. just by rotating the blend knob you can get some very unique sounds almost like a synthisizer. I found the smoothest blend between the two is somewhere around the 2-3 o'clock position. This is a reat pedal to just use as a distoration as well, just crank the blend all the way to 5o'clock. All in all depending on what kind of music you play this guy would be one of those pedals to keep in your bag of tricks on your pedal board due to its wide variety of sound. I've run it thru a clean head on the 2-3 oclock followed by a phase 90 and delay and the sound was incredible. the sound was thick, full and rich and the best way to then controll the distortion would be to just roll back the volume knob.
There really isnt anything negative to say about this pedal. The one thing i could think of is depending on how big of a gig / what volume your playing at there could be decent amount of feedback, but i fixed that with a noise gateVollständige Rezension lesen...

A Perfect Combination of Octave and Fuzz

The effect and the cables are very nice, the MXR "Blue Box" gives your guitar a very deep fuzzy tone. I recommend to turn of your distortion when you use the "Blue Box" because the blue box on it's own provides the perfect tone. You can do a lot of cool things with this effect. Compared to the BOSS "OC-3 SUPER Octave", the "Blue Box" is not quite as nice because there are a couple less things you can do with it, but for me, the "Blue Box" has all I need no more, no less. It is cheaper than the BOSS "OC-3 SUPER Octave" and I would say just as good. Awesome MXR pedal!

This is a great effect! Awesome engineering as Jim Dunlop's MXR products has always presented. The true bypass feature and the high-end quality materials make it very reliable and dependable. This Octavie-Fuzzer pedal is very sensitive and delivers as it should. Very Hendrix indeed. It is also very small and will not take a lot of space in your board. MXR Blue Box is a great pedal.

I want to put in my findings as I've seen a few bad reviews for this. You have to sit with it and tweak it for your set up, no getting around it. When you do you'll get a good fuzz to synth fuzz sound for soloing. It gets a two octave effect too which is very good in the right setting. The other is just an effect, run it through a phaser or flanger and you'll get a wormhole/car shifting gears effect. An absolutely awesome fuzz pedal!

I've tried a number of fuzz pedals in the past, and the M103 is without question the best I have yet to plug into. Very simple controls allow you to dial in an amazing range from crystal clean to as dirty as you want. The other fuzz pedals I have tried have all offered heavy fuzz to heavier fuzz, so it's really nice to be able to dial it back. I have yet to find any issues with this pedal. Great pedal!

Really nice pedal! Excellent to use as a booster or just to make crazy sounds, specially with a wah-wah pedal(i use a Vox V847).

Good sound.. Poor sustain

Excellent, thick, dirty as you like sound, but you cannot sustain with it.. the sound chokes off. This limits it's usefulness.
Difficult to sit in a mix too by it's very nature.
