Dead or Alive 2 (Sega Dreamcast, 2000)

Good intro to arcade fighting for your dreamcast

Dead or alive 2 is the only tecmo game released for the Dreamcast if I remember correctly. It is an arcade port that is sort of bare bones but provides for a solid fighting experience with a fairly in depth attack, counter, and block dynamic that is quick to pick up but difficult to master.

Each character (there is 12 total I think ) has their own signature techniques that are varied enough to provide for a distinct play style but one set of male/female characters seem to be mostly mirrors of each other (the Armstrong's ) . Other then that , the game is pretty worthless as a single player experience. You'll get to the hilarious looking boss in a matter of minutes if you're decent at the game and the game doesn't really translate into English from Japanese very well leaving for a few unintentionally amusing or at least confusing translations.

All in all I'd say that DoA 2 is a good title to have for the Dreamcast if you have more then 1 controller and somebody to play with and worth the price as it comes on the rather low end of the spectrum for DC fighting games. And from there if you're searching for something more then that you'll at least know if that's something you'll want to invest more into with your collection.Vollständige Rezension lesen

A lot of differences

One thing I have noticed is that there are a lot of cool and funny mechanics not in the new ones. Game is fun and feels more fluid than 5

Disc did not work

When holding disc up to the light you can see holes. I knew there would be scratching. But was expecting item to work. Even after being buffed it did not work. Would have been much better labeled (Non-working).Vollständige Rezension lesen
