Good quality product at a reasonable price
These are the first Dapol Imperium decoders that I have bought and I am very pleased with them. I needed them as I had bought a Dapol N Gauge Class 156 and fitted it with light bars. I didn't know at the time, but because the newer Class 156 model is fitted with a Next !8 DCC socket, the DCC also controls the light bar (unlike previous Class 156's with a 6-pin DCC socket)
I originally fitted a Rails of Sheffield Next 18 decoder, not realising that this 4-function decoder would not operate the interior light bar. I needed a 6-function decoder and the Dapol Imperium does the job.
A pity that Dapol do not make it clearer in their instruction sheet that a customer has to buy a 6-function decoder to make the light bar work, so that's the only negative comment that I can make.

Excellent Next18 (N,TT,etc) DCC Decoder with a massive 6 function outputs
A good decoder and notable in being one of very few DCC decoders available through mainstream (rather than specialist sources) to support 6-function outputs. It even supports effects like strobes, alternating ditch lights and other cool lighting tricks, particularly needed for North American models. It follows the NMRA recommendations for lighting effect CVs, so you can follow the instructions from the likes of TCS. Unfortunately this is not particularly clear in the limited accompanying documentation, but Dapol themselves were very responsive to my enquiries.

Perfect for ScaleTrains Model Trains in N Scale!
I do recommend these chips for the N scale ScaleTrains Tier 4 GEVO's and they are better quality than the ESU LokPilot V4/5's in my experiences and what is better news is that they cost the same. Faulty unreliable expensive decoder
Imperium2 Next18 Decoder failed within ten minutes of assembling into the locomotive. Message came up on the controller indicating an error. Probably some type of short circuit. Locomotive is a new Dapol steam locomotive and operates perfectly on DC and also when alternative Gaugemaster Next18 DCC decoder is fitted.Vollständige Rezension lesen
