It's Texas Rangers vs. the Comanches
This is an extremely enraging mini-series which features a plethora of actors led by Val Kilmer who is, as usual, absolutely wonderful. The mini-series is 284 minutes long. It is spread over two dvd's. The series is matted to 1.85 widescreen and claims to be anamorphic. I viewed it through an HDMI cable and was no more than an average picture. Picture was NOT remastered. The stereo mix was below par. The story is historically quite accurate and is a prequel to the Lonesome Dove mini-series. Part two of the Lonesome Dove saga.
I was very glad to get the DVD of part two of the Lonesome Dove story. I can honestly say that it is just almost as good as the original. Second best of the Lonesome Dove series
After the first Lonesome Dove, This is my favorite. The characters are portrayed in the style created by the first cast. Steve Zahn has Robert Duvall's Gus down to a fault and Karl Urban pulls off the taciturn Call in the image of Tommy Lee Jones. Engaging story that gives lots of background information leading to Lonesome Dove saga. The main characters are true to Larry McMurtry's novel descriptions.

Great Addition
This is a great addition to the original Lonesome Dove and to the Return To Lonesime Dove. Never can get enough of these three movies.

Great acting in the Lonesome Dove prequel.
Lonesome Dove fans will love this prequel to the 1980 TV mini-series. Characters are seamless between the two.
