Brilliant insight into what life was like, past and present living in remote Scottish Islands!

Just reading Chessman at the moment and really enjoying it. Have just read the first one in the trilogy The Blackhouse, which sets the scene nicely for Chessman. Very interesting story love the detailed descriptions of the scenery in the Scottish islands. Also like the way the author tells the story through what has happened in the past, which really adds depth to the story.

Crime in the outer Hebrides

Fantastic crime trilogy which is set in outer Hebrides or Scotland. It has lots of twists and turns which you just don’t expect, as well as really bringing these islands to life. The characters are great too and you really hope that their lives will turn out well. Vollständige Rezension lesen

Enjoyable read

As Peter may is a new author to me I wasnt sure what to expect. But I was pleasantly surprised. A good read.

Isle of Lewis novels

The chessmen by Peter May is a fabulous book, the last in a trilogy set on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. I really struggled to put it down

The final part of the Lewis trilogy - read them all this month! Excellent local knowledge and good believable story lines.
