Best Surf Rock Reverb Pedal for Under $400
This is a great pedal, but it really needs to be used at 18V, not the minimum 9V. At 9V I was thinking of returning it, but after reading about other people's similar experiences, I tried 18V and sure enough it was a huge improvement. Apparently, this is fairly typical of Catalinbread pedals, and they really shine at 18V.
At 9V the Topanga didn't have enough headroom, would quickly distort, and sounded too digital through a tube amp. 18V gave it the extra headroom it needed, and helped it sound less digital (at most settings, the extremes will still get a little digital).
It's a great, but fairly specific and limited effect. I wouldn't recommend it as a general reverb pedal, but if you want the classic surf rock spring reverb tone, this is probably the best you'll find for under $400-500 (i.e. getting a surfybear). It's probably a little expensive given how niche it is, but I really like it.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Perfect reverb
I really like the Topanga. I don't like pedals with a million options but only two useable tones. This is exactly the opposite. Very simple to use, it has the same controls as a vintage fender reverb unit. As large a range of tone as this provides, it's all useful! I would buy this again! Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Great spring reverb pedal at a good price.
This pedal quickly and easily gives you a realistic spring reverb sound. It compares very favorably to the spring reverb in my Fender Blues Jr. amp. Nicest Reverb I've had so far!

I´ve tried a LOT of reverb-pedals in recent years - and the "Topanga" is easily the best so far.
No unwanted noises, artefacts or disruptions of any sort - just sweet sound.
I plugged in and felt at home. I didn't even mess with the knobs so far - so I cannot even speak for all the options it offers. I instantly found a sound I like and just kept playing.

Great sounding pedal
This pedal comes the closest to an actual spring reverb unit of any I've tried. It also adds a nice presence in addition to the reverb drip. The Catalinbread Topanga reverb is the best and most authentic sounding spring reverb pedal that has graced my ears. It has the capability of taking you from cool country to spacious indie with the turn of a knob. The decay is amazing. No annoying slapback associated with almost all spring reverb pedals out there.

Awesome reverb pedal
This pedal is an extremely realistic sounding spring reverb pedal. Very authentic in how it responds. I have tried a lot of reverb pedals including the TC which was really awesome as well with many more functions. But all I wanted was an authentic sounding reverb pedal. easy to work with touch sensitive and doesnt created harsh tones!!! in front of pre amp or after sounds good...
