Does the job well

The 90EX flash is designed to be used with the Canon EOS-M mirrorless camera which does not have an inbuilt flash.
The unit is tiny and very lightweight making it easy to carry around so it suits the equally diminutive and convenient EOS-M camera.
Despite being tiny, the flash is sturdy and well-made as is typical of Canon.
The flash uses commonly available AAA batteries so there's no worries about carrying an extra charger.
Of course, it's not a lighting powerhouse but it's more than adequate for everyday work. If you need more light then you can simply use additional Canon flash units ... one of the advantages of buying into a system rather than just a product.

90EX: a cheap speedlight trigger and a small fill in flash.

Power wise it is similar to a built in flash. Not strong but useful for fill in.
My main use however is to use it to tiger off-camera speedlights. In this mode the 90EX does not contribute to the exposure. The flashes you see ate pre-exposure and juts to send exposure data to the remote (canon compatible) flash.
This make the 90EX a cheap speedlight trigger as well as a small fill in flash.

Nice little flash

While it is not as powerful as many other Canon flashes that is to expected due to its size. It is the perfect size flash for my Canon M3 and is a marked improvement over the built in flash. It is very easy to pack along with the camera and an extra lens when traveling light and carrying a small bag. It works great for medium ranges such as taking family pictures. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a small flash to carry with their M series Canon just look up the specs and be aware of its limitations do to the small size.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

It works as expected

I've had this product before, but the old one got ruined. That's why I bought this again to get the same flash that fits my EOS-M.

Small But Useful

Flash used to drive Canon slave flash and does this very well. It can also be used on my small camera to provide some highlighting detail. The output is very low but sufficient for these purposes.r>

Strong flash in compact form

It is better than built-in flashes on other dslr cameras but in small very easy to use package. Performance is very good for indoor use and flash works fully automatic without any problem.

Read the instructions before buying this as a master for remote flashes

This flash is tiny, smaller than I thought it would be, has no controls, it is all managed in-camera.

It is reasonably powerful and better than the built in flash on my EOS Rebel and G12.
r>The flash has one sucky shortfall though. When using it as a master to trigger a remote flash, it does not itself contribute to the exposure. So if you have a 7D like me then it is actually less useful than the in camera flash.

Kinda why I bought it, to use on my 7D, trigger a remote flash and contribute a bit of fill light at the same time. Hence it only gets 3/5 because to me it seems somewhat dumb to give it less functionality than a built in flashVollständige Rezension lesen...

It does exactly what it is made to do.

This flash is exactly what I expected. I bought it to use as a master flash to fire slave flashes for my Canon 6d. It does exactly what it is supposed to do. The flash itself works similar to a pop-up flash....which the 6d does not have. The build quality is good, the lock for the hot shoe is good and the on/off button has a good solid feel to it. I can recommend this flash to anyone that needs a pop-up flash or to work as a master flash on the 6d or the 5D series of cameras.Vollständige Rezension lesen...

Little Item, Big Results!

First of all, I did not realize how small this flash is. But I have to say that Big things do come in small packages! I use i with my canon EOS Mirror Camera, an it works Beautifully!

Though it's a fixed flash, it's ok for me to use indoors to take family photos, and general pictures. One thing that I did not expect is that it would be so Bright!

My other flash is the size of the camera. This one used works perfect and looks good on the camera.
