Canon EF USM 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 USM Lens

A great quality lens for the price.

I recently upgraded to a Canon full frame camera and needed an EF-mount lens. I wanted a good zoom range and didn't want to spend a lot of money on a high-end lens yet, so I bought this 28-200 mm USM lens. After reading reviews of this lens, I was a little leery about the quality. However, so far I've been very happy with it!

The rotation of the barrel is smooth, and the quality of the photos is very good. I loaded the lens profile into my Canon camera and turned on Digital Lens Optimizer; now the camera can compensate for known deficiencies including chromatic aberration.

The noise from the Ultrasonic Motor is noticeable, but tolerable.

One thing I'm a little nervous about is that there is a slight amount of lateral play in the front part lens when fully retracted (28mm). I don't know if this is specific to my lens, or common to this model.

No, it likely can't match the quality of a Canon "L" Series lens, but for the price, it is a great lens!Vollständige Rezension lesen

All-in-one

Not the sharpest, but it’s pretty compact compared to other mounts. Great for hiking, and pretty close focusing. A great lens to have, no where near the price or quality of the L series, but oh well.

Happy with lens

Nice range of focal length for walks w/o tripod. Light.

Only worked for a short while

Telephoto stopped working and it will only zoom to 50mm. Very disappointing because I was unable to get the photos I wanted when I was up in the Eastern Sierra Nevadas this past summer.
