A worthwhile find for a hard to find soundtrack!

Bugsy Malone was one of the first musicals I was ever exposed to (the other being The Pirates of Penzance). This was the original version, updated for the 90s; not the Scott Baio and Jodie Foster version which is equally hard to obtain, and when found often sells for an obscenely high price. That was what first attracted me to the London version. For anyone who likes musicals set in the Roaring 20s this is DEFINITELY a must have for your collection. Performed by a cast of teenaged kids, this comedy pokes fun at the gangsters of the 20s. The songs are lively and upbeat. The tongue in cheek humor is similar to Chicago, but is more suited to younger, family friendly audiences. Still, the older crowd will enjoy Bugsy Malone. If you liked Chicago, you'll like Bugsy Malone. What made this soundtrack even better was that the 1996 remake added new tracks and reharmonized the original musical score, breathing new life into this classic. The only downside I encountered, is that unlike most soundtracks for musicals, the liner was woefully lacking with regards to the lyrics. Overall , still a hit. I give it four out of five stars!!!Vollständige Rezension lesen...
